My money would be on a ball joint. I had this set of symptoms on an old Rover SD1 and it was the lower arms. Not worn enough to show with a pry bar but rattling like a can of nails when cornering. Hellish vibration through the wheels too.

Back in the day I would have removed a half shaft and rear prop and stuck the centre difflock in - that would tell you if it was the rear diff!!! Land Rover Addict

I have a very similar issue with my tdv8. On fast slight left handers the whole car shakes like hell, scared my brother to death when he drove it. Lower arm has been replaced and all tyres and wheels changed but problem still exists. |

Its fair to say that GO have always played fair with me....They've given loads of advice FOC and seem genuine.

Is it possible to disconnect the rear diff and drive on the front axle to rule out the diff.Am not sure it is but am sure someone will know.Certainly does not sound like diff to me,it could be anything. What about the props or the transfer box or an electronic fault.Anyone got a 4 wheel rolling road you could put it on!! |

It still sounds to me not diff related, if the diff was locked up because the electronic locker has failed then its still not going the cause the wheels to wobble, the inside (of the corner) tire can skip and chirp on hard tight corners

Hmmm. while the car is waiting for the back-ordered diff, has the garage got another car in, that he could just disprove the 'dodgy wheel' theory, and swap wheels set from another car, and retest ???

PM sent. Its impossible that the diff can cause the symptoms you describe. Don't spend a penny until you've had wheels balanced on a "Hunter GSP9700 Road Force balance & measurement" machine.

Thanks Guys, I have spoken to GO and asked them to change all the Discs first and balance the wheels again before the Diff arrives from LR ( on backorder until 20th April ). The discs were on their way out anyway so at least that's money well spent. Will keep you informed. |
