Sound maybe the bearing on the compressor, you only hear it when the clutch cuts in and out about the right timings you mention... Mines been noisy for over 15,000 miles, keep meaning to sort it......

Pretty sure I read somewhere you can change the front bearing without removing the pump, although I haven't had a look at mine yet, if the pump still works then someone somewhere will be able to change the bearing...

Searched everywhere and it doesn't appear that the bearing / clutch Is available separately.

It'll be a standard bearing, just need to get it out and it and measure it....

Yes thanks Greg, new hip is great, on list for other one now, main problem is knee, now totally gone, won't lock straight, can't bend it past 30degrees... so it totally prevents me from getting my teeth stuck into the bigger Jobs on the FF... so just playing at the moment... got lots of big lumps of steel in the garage awaiting playing!!!! They can't do the knee until after the hip so a few more months to wait... Pete
