Accessory plug? Confused

12V lighter socket type plug?

I can do, happy to be asked to make up any variation on the theme.

I have done Anderson plugs, an ignition switched version and a version for crocodile clip equipped charger, etc etc.

12S or 13 pin version and for various charger types.

Very nice product! Wish I had a towing connector now. That would make it so easy.

My connection under the bonnet is working ok but a but of a botch job really.

I've just ordered one of these to try it.

You will need a permanently powered socket for that to work, or if the socket is ignition switched, find the relay which switches it on and bridge the terminals with a link wire to make it permanent.

It is, however, why I don't make a CTEK to cigar plug adapter Wink

I haven't tested them yet but I've been led to beleive that the socket in the boot is a permanent live.

I'll let you know when I test it!

Yes Martin, a lighter plug Thumbs Up It would appear that there is a live one in all the ffrr's, the one in the boot, although if your car is of BMW origin then any socket will work, provided that the fuse is intact Shocked I just thought that it would be a cheaper option for those who don't tow with there Range Rovers Shocked ( I thought that was what they were made for, but it appears that I may have been mislead Laughing and contrary to popular belief, a towbar is an option and not standard equipment Shocked Shocked had to pick myself up after that one Rolling with laughter ) Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Can I ask what's the ctec fly lead? I currently have a ctec charging the RR but it's just connected under the bonnet to the battery. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

The socket with ring terminals, fitted permanently to the battery.

I assume you are using the crocodile clips?

Yep, the crocodile clips but sometimes they pop off and the lead to ctec is not quite long enough. Also yesterday I noticed what looked like condensation in the small lights on the charger. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

I now have a perfect solution...

One these in to the socket in the boot.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-CTE-56263-Cig...160%2C160_

And one of these to extend the lead

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-56-304-Comfor...P3W2KNN1ZM

The maintainer I'm using is one of these..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-MXS-5-0-Tempe...words=CTeK

The extension cable just pops out the boot between the upper and lower parts and I connect it to the charger which is outside the vehicle.

Hope that helps.

I have a CTEK 5.0 with+/- cable permanently fixed to the battery terminals. This is rolled up and stored in the battery box when not in use. Simply pull out and connect to an extension lead of the Ctek - simples. regularly leave on charge all week as only use the fatty at weekends. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Shocked Shocked ajac8 does Pete know you got a thing going on with fatty? Only I fear that he might get the hump if he finds out your with his ffrr Shocked Shocked

wilwak, Have you spoken to Martin about that lead? I think he'll probably do you a better deal, and from what I understand he makes them, so you could get the exact length that you require Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I've just looked in my MXS 5.0 box and found one of those fly leads, so I'll use that. Only thing that bothers me is it doesn't have an inline fuse so if some scumbag decides to cut wires and join together then 😡 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

Mine is maintained inside a garage so I don't have that risk.

If you're worried about sabotage then maybe place the charger unit inside the boot and have the mains cable trailing out the boot? I've done that in the past.

The problem is that some of the latest ctek chargers have quite chunky mains cables. The older ones had thin ones.

Surely it's easy enough to add an inline fuse ?
