Loosen the nut but leave it on the thread towards the top, lift the wiper blade as high as it goes and gently rock it back & forth... You will here a "gentle pop" put the wiper back down on the screen. unscrew the nut the rest of the way... "A voila!"

Ive never once had to use a puller on a 322 wiper blade!

So today got a few minutes to use the top tips on how to remove the wiper arm.

Was quoted £45 incl VAT & delivery from Duckworths for a replacement wiper arm or £82 for the front pair (a good price).

1. Marked the wiper blade resting positions on the windscreen with tape.
2. Sprayed WD40 on the wiper arm securing nut and spline (giving that a few minutes to take effect).
3. Loosened the securing nut but didn't completely remove it.
4. Manipulated by hand the wiper arm to easily free it.
5. Removed nut.
6. Lifted wiper arm completely off the spine without need for a splitter or any other tools.

I then cleaned off the wiper arm and found it to be in excellent condition except for 2 relatively small areas of visibly flaking paint. I 'polished' the wiper arm with Farecla G3 giving it more of a shiny finish.

I masked around the flaking paint areas (on 'elbow' joins and wiper arm edges) and used wire wool to remove the flaking paint back to bare metal finish.

Bought a "Halfords Satin Black Scratch & Chip Repair Pen" found it to be excellent, easy to apply and the finish is superb, exactly matching the newly G3'd finish:

Job done well, no justification to buy a new wiper arm and all for £5.49 and 60 minutes of my time. Very pleased with this little piece of remedial work. Sad but true Mr. Green

Thumbs Up

Issues or not, touching up your wiper arms is as CDO as giving attention to the faded wiper scuttle, or repainting the exhaust back box, or touching up a stone chip on the grille /elsewhere or wire wool and autoglym on chrome exhaust tips... They're all visible parts that can let down the presentation of the car if not attended to or replaced, if of course you are as fussy as how the car looks as you are about the correct maintenance Very Happy

Both wiper arms done now and all good.

The Halfords touch up pen has a clever soft squeeze bottle design which has a fine detail tiny nib on the end which let's you squeeze small amounts of paint through it and touch up very small chips / fine scratches with great precision, if you are that way inclined (it also has the traditional nail polish type brush built into the main screw off lid).

Thumbs Up
