Cup Holder

Bit of an odd one this Rolling Eyes but we miss Sad the passenger cup-holder that was just below the air vent in our old 2003 4.4. Anyone mod'ed a 2007-2009 to accommodate one, the two in the middle are always full as cabin storage is minimal. Assume it would be possible even a straight swap.
In fact we also miss the one that folded out from below the armrest.

my 2002 type one like this one, it broke and wouldn't slide out, so I went to b+q and bought a small 20mm cupboard knob, in black, (ball shaped) £3. I rilled the centre of the thumb press area and bolted it on. presto, it works, it looks okish. and I saved £90. I was hoping to buy a ebay one cheap, but that doesn't happen, an now its staying....
it works, and you can hang an air freshener on it, so its an improvement!!!!! Razz

Does your 2007 - 2009 FFRR have the old 2002 - 2004 light switch? If that hasn't changed then you stand a chance of fitting the early cup holder, as it was in the place the lhd light switch would have gone. But you would have the fit the early dash end as well, I haven't be allowed to go near a newer one, so I'm only guessing Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Craigs looked good - I think he had to replace the entire end panel though

As someone has been keeping secretes, I thought I'd do a little digging myself Wink It would look to be a fairly easy job to do but you will need a cup holder (der!) and you'll need a dash end panel from a LHD L322 as well. The early L322's have both LH and RH light switch panels fitted and to fill the hole on the other side they fitted a cup holder Smile
So if you can get an end panel from a left hooker then you should be well on ya way Thumbs Up

As you can see from the pilfered image the top half of the Dash end are the same, only the later facelift cars did not have any cut outs in the dash cover in the passenger position.
You'll need to get a LHD panel, then hopefully it will all slip into place. There may or may not be the the fixing that you have to put the bolt through to hold it in place, but I'm sure that it you are able to change the dash ends, cobbling up a fixing point should be easy Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Thank you, I never knew the early L322's just used a left hand drive 'piece' and filled the light switch area with a cup-holder, clever. Off to ebay.com now to have a look Thumbs Up Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968

Any forum members in countries with left hand drive cars know of a LHD (2006 - 2013) Switch Panel in Piano Black 'parting out' as they say ie any car breakers specialising in FFRR's. Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968

I did mine, as swmbo'd missed her bottle holder! Rolling Eyes

The LHD dash end won't fit straight in as the glove boxes on a RHD are a different shape to the LHD Drivers Knee Airbag panel... So, it needs trimming & even then you will be left with a gap when you open the glove boxes... Thumbs Up

The dash plastics also need to be cut (to allow the cup holder through) and make a lower bracket to mount it after moving/refitting two relays (that are in the way Thumbs Up

Hats off sir Bow down It looks perfect, why did LR mess about with something that was discrete and very functional.
is it really that involved, moving relays is not really ideal, could live with slight gap but sounds so much trouble no wounder others have not converted. Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968
