Two options here , one is to get wiggs ( can be found on this site ) to upgrade your module software so you bluetooth will work with newer phones or if you like old technology go with the Nokia and cradle but the hard part is getting a cradle, its getting on for ten years since they were sold and are very hard to find , I massively under sold the one I had a couple of years ago . 2008 MY Supercharged

You can also get a cradle which takes a Sony Ericsson T610 phone, that's what I've got in my 2005 FF. Got mine off fleabay, phone and cradle cost £105 when I got it two years back (was lucky to get it as well, as the seller had a 'Buy it Now' price of £105) and the bids were on £65 when I snapped it up. Shoved a PAYG sim card in it and it works a treat!
Got the Nokia kit in the boot, but the car's bluetooth has been disabled (I think) on the satnav, so just waiting to get a BT IID Tool from Santa to see if I can get that working too.

its got hk sounds though-i havent had it in bits inside the boot yet to have a good check
do these cars have a bm54 type module like the earlier rangies and x5?
and are they simple to fit the nav to-will i need a harness and late model nav or just the nav

and cheers for the replies Thumbs Up

A picture of your whole touchscreen (inc. buttons) in the front of the dash and a picture of the electronics in the rear left hand bay (where the sat nav player goes) would be useful. Would help to identify exactly what you've got, system wise. If you have a touchscreen then I would have assumed that you would also have the sat nav dvd unit installed. The whole setup is standard on the Vogue models, but an option on the HSE I believe.

If your FF is an MY05 model, then you will have the MOST fibre optic system set up. Theoretically, if you get the sat nav dvd unit, it should be pretty much plug 'n play, provided the fibre optic loom hasn't been butchered.

As I said, photos will give us a much better idea, after all a picture tells a thousand words. Thumbs Up

Well, the good news is you have the MOST Denso satnav system, with the fibre optic loom. Same system as in my FF.

The bad news is that it looks like the previous owner has probably removed the dvd sat nav player (probably broke and 'hopefully' he's just removed it and bypassed the connectors), so you'll need to get a new sat nav dvd player and disc. Have you tried pressing the nav key (top right button on the headunit) and if so, what message do you get on the screen?

Don't have the part number at the moment, but will check out microcat for what you will need. You should be able to pick up a second hand unit relatively cheap off fleabay (and an up-to-date sat nav disc...wink, wink, say no more!!).

Get a couple of pics of the electronics bay in the boot, post them up so we can see what's what and have a look at the fibre optic cable loom to see if it's been coupled together at any point.

All being good, it can be sorted. Thumbs Up

Here's a unit on ebay at the moment. Part no. YIB500090 or YIB500120

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-RANGE..._692wt_721

This is the unit type you need, the older BMW units won't work, it's got to have the fibre optic connector port on it.

Try and get a pic of the fibre optic cable looms in the electronic bay as well, we'll be able to tell more then. Thumbs Up

as i said a bit spartan-all looks pretty much factory no cutting been done one cable is joined in centre by a clip and covered in pvc -looks pretty much land roverish though-and no scores/witness marks in tray to indicate a nav unit has ever been present-poverty spec....lol

Hi Tony,
Your car came from LR w/o a nav. Hard to believe that LR would install a huge touch screen just as a radio, but it was done that way. Worse, as you've noticed, is that they actually went through the trouble of making a new loom specifically for the non-nav vehicles. I've said this before, but I can not imagine that they saved any money this way. Simply building a second loom and the logistics of inserting it in the production line prob cost more than just outfitting all cars w/satnav. Whatever.

I've just purchased most of the bits needed for adding the nav to a RR without and will document the procedure. It will involve a bit of soldering, but should not be too difficult for someone with even moderate skills in wiring. You will need to activate the nav with a diagnostic tool in order to complete this, tho. This is why you get the 'No Nav' message at the moment.

All this may still take a couple of months for me to complete, tho. Have to find the time...

Hi Tony,

The pictures are a bit inconclusive as to whether there was a satnav fitted or not. In the top picture, I can see what looks like the power connector and fibre optic cables, but theyre obscured by your hand.

One quick question, do you have a black plastic 'bump' located on the roof towards the back of the car, that would be the GPS antenna, though it could also double up as the antenna for the phone.

One way to find out what was fitted to your car, send Dan at Duckworths Parts (site sponsor on here, so do a search for his profile) a PM (private message) with your VIN number and ask him to get a build sheet, he will be able to download the build sheet for your vehicle, which will tell you exactly what was fitted to the vehicle when it left the factory. Thumbs Up

hump

it does have the hump on the roof...
some of the fibre optic cables[at least two white] are there
there is a cable with a factory loop in it in the centre of the harness shown-car is jan 05
the touchscreen does the suspension/cd mulichanger and radio...

if it was a strightforward plug in i might decide to go for it-but much more than that and i wouldnt tbh

do these cars have a unit similar to the bm54 of is the touch screen more than just a controller/interface on these models
its good to learn... Mr. Green

Hi Guys,
Trust me - no nav ex-factory. Otherwise it would be activated in the menu on the screen.

Do a search for the "ultimate infotainment upgrade" thread. P.2-3 IIRC, posts by mzpclg. He mentions exactly this prob. Since then we've seen a couple. The aerial on the roof means nothing - tho I do not know for sure if a new one is needed. I have ordered on for the installation just to be safe, tho.
