[quote="JPR 1"]Always had a soft spot for Astons, old and new.

Hey, I've got an old Aston question. (Sorry for the treat hijack.) The scene in GOLDENEYE got me thinking. It's the one where Bond, in the BD5 races a villainess in a new (1990s) Ferrari on a curvy, mountain road. So, the course isn't a drag race where top speed is the only consideration. Could an old Aston, driven by a good professional racing driver keep up with a newer Ferrari driven by an average driver with no race experience? What do people think?

Now that Citreon is a very special car indeed.

I've always loved the idea of a 7.2 Jenson Inteceptor,or the FF, but there really are so many options to choose from I can so easily get carried away.

Always wanted a Quattro, and still plan to have one at some point - they sound so good, but aren't actually that quick by todays standards.

Of course, I'd ideally want the limited run short wheelbase homologated for the Group B WRC - out of my price range though at £100k plus Whistle

I remember seeing ads in Autocar in 1986 for DBs for around the £5-6k region. I paid that for my MG Metro at the same time.

Doesn't matter weegie, you're also living in France, so there must be something wrong with you..... Wink
My Etype was the most beautiful of them all a 3.8 1963 FHC with a series 2 gearbox, because the mossbox in the S1 was a disaster. That car has been my favorite classic driver for 12 years and if you have never tried to heelflip the throttle of an E type you don't know what this car is all about. From the eight old cars in my garage she made the most kilometers and never let me down. They are formidaaable.... Thumbs Up

Robert, I have driven them. I just don't like them. They don't do it for me.

À chacun ses goûts. Wink

Interestingly I used to be heavily into Rileys and was always amused when Jaguar made a big thing of the cross flow hemispherical combustion chamber as if they had invented it.

One Riley engined car I had was a Healey Tickford. I wrote it off on black ice after a few weeks of ownership in the early sixties. Wish I still had it. Crying or Very sad John

@ Rosco, as I wrote in previous posts, I have reduced the number of cars in the last 24 months, sold the E type, the MG PB, MG TA, the Jaguar SS special and the Alvis firefly. Stil have a few and looking for a nice very powerful prewar 8 cylinder.
We are living in the French part of France Very Happy where ever that may be and having lunch is one of our hobby's. So.... Thumbs Up

As you say Weegie, each his own gout. That's easy with the food and wines here Laughing
