2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Interesting; after a spot of will I, wont I with a 2010 upgrade I am sticking where I am and waiting for a 4.4 in a couple of years time, maybe sooner. When I drove one I didn't notice any increased engine noise but I did think it was quite a bit smoother and the extra horses were noticable. The only snag is the £15-£20k that you need plus the 3.6 to trade in Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

A S/C is possible, as i do quite low milage, and in terms of value for money they look good, and make a nice noise. Big Cry

probably a better bet reliability wise to a TDV8 as well.......and a fair bit cheaper......... Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

That's the reason we bought the SC rather then another TDV8 as there's less to worry about with EGR's, Turbo's etc.

True, you just don't read about big expensive repair bills with those quite as often. I had a word with Craig before buying it and he shared the same view.

Not like you buy any RR for reliability is it! Laughing

True, but that's probably down to V8 diesels outselling SC 20:1 (figs from my main agent) Thumbs Up and to be fair I don't recall that many issues with the 4.4 TDV8 whereas there have been quite a few recent issues with the SC especially gearboxes if you do a search on here Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I've seen a few of the recent SC gearbox threads so am hoping and praying!

Our 4.4 TDV8 is about to go into the dealer for its 3rd starter motor though, seems they're a weak spot on some. Did they not have the issues with smoking and a new oil drain having to be drilled into the block or something?

Is the EGR valve and turbo failure specific to the 3.6 or are the 4.4's affected too? Might be to early to tell I guess.

4.4TDV8 has Brembo brakes. The brakes on the 3.6TDV8 10MY are very poor IMO and on test drive I found myself feeling a little bit uncomfortable.

Interesting. I test drove a 4.4 at the weekend and the brakes were pretty average and certainly didn't inspire confidence. I put this down to the car sitting on the forecourt for the best part of 2 months. Was extremely quick though and sat at 1400rpm at 70, which was remarkable.

My local dealer has the 4.4 for sale at £33k (2011 plate) and a 3.6 for £32k (2009 plate, but 2010 model). Both have towbars included and seem to have the same spec level, so now I need to decide.

Dealer is pushing me towards the 4.4.

there has got to be some milage difference in there somewhere! 18 month age difference and better engine and spec for only 1k more!

I am going to see if hunters have got one on site......... Big Cry the temptation is too great. Trouble is i have allocated all my money to some work projects for the next 12 months....... Big Cry There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

4.4 v8 diesel brakes average ? There must have been something wrong with them - they are the same as the 5.0 supercharged. And as for a 3.6 v 4.4 for 1k more - well draw you own conclusions - either the 3.6 is almost as new with very low miles or the 4.4 is double the mileage Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Have seen one which fits the bill......

Need to get a steer on trade values now, anyone got an idea of what I should be getting for a 57 08my 3.6 tdv8 vogue black on black, with 70k on it?

Am expecting them to try and fleece me! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

'59 3.6 has done 43k and is a Vogue SE; '11 4.4 has done 62k and is 'just' a Vogue. The 59 is the 2010 model, so seems to have all the kit. The dealer has just reduced the price of the 4.4 to the same as the 3.6, so £32k for either.

Both are at Pentland Land Rover Perth: http://www.pentland.perth.landrover.co.uk/...le-Locator (filter on RR, obviously !)
