We have one on TDV8 MY2010 because the value is over £50k. At that level it is not an option. You MUST have one. Did not get any quotes without insisting it was fitted.

We have a SMARTRACK unit.

And why not Question It is a lot of kit to go missing Sad Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

Churchill insisted on a Tracker (or no theft cover) for us.

Privilege (Direct Line/RBS) said I had to have one. Luckily, one was already fitted so all I needed to do was activate it.

I was glad of it when it got nicked as well! Found within 10 mins 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

When people say that a "tracker" is needed, are we talking any old tracking device or an actual VHF tracker?

I'm just curious, as from personal experience I am now convinced that the cheaper GPS type is pretty crap, unless it's just for seeing where your drivers are...
Can't believe how easy they are to block or find.
Certainly better to pay an extra few quid a month and get the real deal. The VHF one.

Any insurer linked to Royal Bank of Scotland (Direct Line/Churchill/ and a few others) insists on a Tracker for cars with a value over £50000 or are "desirable" (Subaru Imprezas?) because RBS owns Tracker! I insure with the "old" RSA group Land Rover Insurance - I called them to insure the FFRR and in the automated calling systemn touched 1 for new business and was taken off the Royal and Sun Alliance exchange to somebody called Land Rover Insurance by Brit-Insure. They quoted £695 and insisted on a tracker being fitted....................... when I redialed RSA and went through to one of the other numbers on the exchange they quoted me £11 increase of premium (so that's £440pa foor the FFRR including offroad use and recovery) and no Tracker required. I then did some research and found the new Land Rover Insured is a rip off through Stratstones Cheltenham branch and Brit-Insure - Brit-Insure is underwritten or owned by RBS - same as Churchill and DL and a host of other "discount" insurers including Privaledge. When Brit-Insure sent me the prospectus for there policy not only was I paying near 100% higher premium than with RSA, I had to buy and have fitted and then subscribe to Tracker and there cover was nowhere near as good as Royal and Sun Alliances cover (eg only 28 days a year continental use, trailers and roof racks contents not covered, no offroad recovery, etc etc). I asked RSA about this and they told me that Land Rover had decided to use a different supplier but that existing clients could remain with the same cover they have always had with Royal and Sun Alliance. I have 2 Land Rovers on RSA policies. What was a real shocker was that RSA insure my Defender under their Land Rover scheme for £156 a year, Brit-Insure wanted £595 for the same cover and insisted on a tracker being fitted to a 14 year old car! Some improvement Land Rover!

By the way one way to reduce the likelihood of your FullFat getting stolen is not to show your location in your forum signature/ sidebar - if you have put your location is as your home then click on the members map we can all see the street you live on or where you claim to keep your car if we zoom in............................... might as well say "come here and take it away"! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I use Adrian Flux Thumbs Up

They are very good all our cars are insured with them, I am 24 and my brother is 21 and has a golf GT TDI 150 BHP and I just ring the 0800 number - takes a few minutes sometimes but no problems and the best thing is when we renew I go online find the cheapest obscure insurance company using gocompare or such like and they ALWAYS match the price, just give them your login details for go compare or equivilent and they check the price (they did'nt bother last time! just beat it by a few quid). They do motorbikes as well. I can't recommend them enough as they have saved me thousands of pounds using them. They have never wanted a tracker Cool

** And I get European recovery, key cover , windscreen cover bla bla bla............
