2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zambezi Silver

Passenger door not locking, occasionally works!

In the last couple of weeks the passenger door does nt lock in 9 out of 10 attempts from remote or the dash button. If I manually lock it then it will unlock from the key or button. Before I go stripping the door card off to explore, any thoughts gratefully received. Thanks 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

The lock mechanism is goosed ! I got a used one of fleaby and fitted it myself in half an hour which inc removing door card and putting card back. No user serviceable parts in it. You can try dribbling wd40 or such like in to it but at the end of the day, you'll end up replacing it.

While I am replacing the mechanism I may as well changed the scruffy door handles too, make a day of it! 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

Do a search too on forum. there was something else on this recently to do with wiring behind A post trim. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Had the same issue recently. Removed the little plastic ring around the door knob (top of the door card) and squirted some WD down there. No issues since SDV8 AB MY 2019

mine stopped working during a cold snap over a year ago, was inoperable for a month or so, then hey ho started working no issues since, touch wood

I will try the wd40 trick, have had a price for a new actuator and it's not too bad, the cost of new door handles however were a lot more than I expected, c.£400! 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

The wd40 trick has nt made any difference. have bought a new lock mechanism. Got the RAVE instructions,seen the video on you tube on removing door card ready for the swap this weekend. Any tips from those who have done it before? 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE

I have fitted the replacement door latch mechanism. I followed the YouTube video, took my time and had some trim removal tools to help preserve the door card condition. It's a straightforward procedure, once I understood the set up. Hardest part was getting the door card back on neatly. What I did find was the bodged procedures of the main dealer mechanics, the weather seal was all torn, a number of the trim clips were missing. Luckily I had some in stock from a BMW I had years ago so was able to replace them. I am glad it was fixed as I was tired of leaning over to unlock it! 2012 4.4TDV8 VSE
