England 2002 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue

Hi, I have purchased the compressor repair kit, will give it a go with a mates help, looks straight forward. Going to test the bulb holder in the morning see if that is the fault, if it is do I have to buy a new unit or can I just get the holder ?
Thanks

Good luck with the compressor, you may be able to gently bend the contacts on the bulb holder so it grips the bulb harder, not sure if it's available separately. Pete

If you are getting hdc and abs warnings as well it may be corrosion on your abs module situated in the rear of the engine compartment in the middle, near the firewall. Sometimes the connectors get a bit of green corrosion on them and this can interfere with the link and as it is a looped system, it sets off other ecus at the same time. Worth having a look inside your abs module. Only a 2 minute job. Thumbs Up

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Sorry to hear Paul. I understand what you are going through, my 4.2 SC had a lot of "backlog" work and I also had some unfortunate extra things go wrong :

- Front air bags worn (normally starts at that age of car), new struts 500 GBP (labour was free for me Smile )
- Suspension bushings all over, cost some 500 Euro (free labour still)
- Fuel pump (cheap find by Kingpleb/Will for 50 GBP iso of 400+ GBP)
- Clean fuel system (no cost really)
- Rear brake calipers

Extraordinary ones :
- AC packed up, new one 1000 Euro
- Both oil to water coolers (transmission and engine) blown, lot of work to clean up, plus new coolers. Say 2000 Euro altogether
- Gearbox solenoids replaced 300 Euro

Plus some small stuff, parking sensors for example.

I guess our cars will never be super reliable or cheap in any way shape of form and you can get lucky and have a trouble free one or you have to make it trouble free. I hope that yours gets sorted soon and you have many many trouble free miles in it Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi, thanks everyone. I am hopeful I am getting it right, really does run well & nearly everything is working now !! I am going down the route of making it a good one rather than hoping for a good one. Once the indicator, EAS issues done next on the list is gearbox service & terra clean, make sure all is clean & renewed. Will be nice to finish it all & enjoy hopefully !!

Will check abs module first thanks very much, will let you know.

hi, have some free time this week so was going to do the compressor kit but thought I would just check through paperwork on the car and found a receipt for the following - compressor-suspension levelling £299.00 dated 15/2/2012.
so am guessing it had a new compressor fitted 2yrs ago and has only done about 10,000 miles in that time. So before I start stripping the compressor has anybody got any ideas please,

As above, sounds like an ABS problem if you are getting the ABS light on as well as the others. A lot of the systems are interlinked and use each others sensors (ABS,HDC,EAS) so an ABS fault could also disable the EAS (can't tell the speed in order to raise/lower for motorway mode) and HDC which uses the ABS to brake the wheels.
I can't think of a situation where an EAS system fault would put on the ABS light.
You need to check the fault codes, my money is on a wheel speed sensor or ABS wiring (as above).

If you are planning on keeping your rangey for a while and are happy doing a bit of DIY to save money then I suggest getting a code reader/reset tool and recommend the IID tool. Not cheap but will save the money you spend on it several times over against garage bills.

Paulmeds hasn't posted since Oct 2014 on anything so I doubt you will get a reply... several places on eBay that do it and have a quick turnaround...

Don't send your new bit with it though, if it fails they will say it's your part, usually it's how the repair was done that fails but they will have an outer if you supply the parts... Thumbs Up Pete

Many thanks for that I seen a place that for £180 will take the car apart and repair whilst you wait. I dont have a problem with the duff display but on the last MOT the tester put unknown mileage down on the form which cocks up my insurance warranty! I read somewhere that the odometer is stored on the ECU but I have tried to look using Torque Pro with OBD2 and cant find it?
regards Dave
