Hi All,

I have a 2005 L322 TD6 which I brought 6 months ago. Absolutely love it.

However, when I bought it the sat nav worked fine but after a couple of months I started to get the read errors. I have replaced the disc as that looked completely worn out, cleaned the lens and still no joy. I have 3 different discs supplied as I think the first one I got was for a cd based system. the first disc loaded performed a firmware update. the other disc give me read errors and "this is not a map disc" message.

On following threads on here and getting great advice from those threads, I have a question. My installed unit is a YIB500070, when in diag mode, the diag screen says I have a YIB500051.

Am I being stupid and this doesn't matter or do I have a firmware issue that needs to be resolved before I spend the £250 to get the unit refurbished.

Any advice gratefully received .

i gather you have the touch screen MOST system...if you are trying to use a dvd from the mark4 then afaik it wont work on the touch screen unit..

if you you are using the proper disc then if its a pirated copy then that could be the problem..

Thanks for the reply. However, with one of the new discs I did get the map up intermitantly. My real question is about the difference in model no between my unit and the unit specified on the diag screen. is this a firmware issue?

Also stan, I may have got the MK IV bit wrong - I assumed it was MK IV as I thought (maybe incorrectly) that MK III was the cd based system

the mark 3 is the cd based for pre touch screen but you can upgrade to a bmw unit and that is referred to as the mark 4..

if its intermittent then i suspect the unit is'nt reading the disc or the disc is dirty but you've actioned those so what about the connections? is there moisture in the cubby hole?

Hi stan, no moisture at all. checked that from all the other excellent threads on here

one last thought, try gently tapping the nav dvd unit whilst looking at the screen and see if that does anything, other than that it could be a replacement unit unless anyone else has any ideas..
