Sounds like a worn tensioner pulley |

I suggest to replace the tensioner completely, pulley, arm, spring etc. and make sure it moves easily. Also check all the pulleys that are driven so make sure they are OK and no funny business is going on there

I fitted a genuine new belt and tensioner 2 yrs ago at a major service when the alternator was off I might have to do it again. |

Sorry to hear of your trouble. I'm not mechanically incline enough to help, but I just wanted to point out that P38 and Classic DO qualify as 'real' FFRRs. It's a question definitely worth asking even though the site is mainly L322 and L405. |

Its been at it again, twice since Christmas, I have ordered a new gas strut/spring assy for the tensioner lets see what that does to it.
