I need to get a power cable connected to the speed camera warning device I have mounted on the plastic binnacle in the windscreen area above the RHS air vent (and wood trim).
Any tips?
Where is there power? How do I access it?
How can I get cable to it?

Just fed up with springy coiled cable and a window sucker...

All help appreciated

There should be a Perm Live in the lower Kick Panel (The Plastic bit by your right foot)

Do you know if the plastic end part (side of wood trim and RHS vent) just pulls off?

pull the vent out first then unscrew the rest of the trim

Wasn't that straightforwards...
The vent really did not want to come out, and the plastic side panel was very difficult to remove.
At one point I thought I was going to break it!

Once there though - everything was dead easy - good permanent live - easy to safely connect a fused supply to - and then route the power cable up along the other cables - to the point right next to the unit.

mate, i have fitted my pogo, run the wire down to the kick panel - how do you get the kick panel off? also, which wire did you use for live and earth? Cheers

I'm trying to do exactly the same fit with my Pogo - can you help me out with kick panel removal and then picking the right wires for live and earth.....any advice gratefully received!

I picked up my RR yesterday and have a pogo to fit. Did anyone find out how to remove the kick plate? I managed to partially remove it and can see some connectors behind but a bit scared of breaking it if I'm honest.

Sorry I'd not picked up on these posts earlier.
The kick panel is easy to get off - BUT it's best to remove the sill plate first because otherwise you risk damaging the corner of the kick plate that tucks under it.
Simply use a decent blade and insert under the sill plate and lever up gently (I use a thing called a "Richard' - designed to get windscreen rubbers off older cars (remember them?) since it has a nice wide blade and is around 1.5mm thick, so is strong too).
Remove the sill plate and put it somewhere it won't get scratched, then lift the lower edge of the kick plate away from the side of the car. It does take some force.

Cautionary note: I'm writing all this from memory since my car is at home and I'm in the US.. so pretty sure that's right...

I used a Fluke multimeter and found a good permanent live that stayed that way when everything I could see was switched on - and I'm afraid all I remember about it was it was two solid red colour wires that went to the same connector. All I did was use a 3M tap-in connector to put the power wire into it. Ground was provided by a chassis mount nut - used for the electrics under the kick panel.

The fiddly bit was the removal of the vent caps and getting the wire down the side of the dash and through the deeper dash under the instrument binnacle, without it being likely to foul on the steering column or adjuster... but then I wanted a really neat job where you don't see any wires.

I mounted mine in the same location - on the plastic binnacle in the windscreen area above the RHS air vent and wood trim. But did a really simple installation.

I just fed the power cable down behind the flock covered door opening trim to the carpet - tucking it under with a wooden lolly stick as I went, passed the cable under the drivers mat, ran it to the underside of the drivers seat (cable tied out of the way) and passed the cable under the edge of the centre console near the cubby box. I then removed the liner out of my cubby box (or pulled the power outlet out - can't remember which as I have done this on several RR's), found a live feed pulled the cable through and scotchlocked in. No need to remove any trim or break any brackets etc.

I connected to a live which goes off with the ingnition - I think it was the feed for the cigar lighter or power socket???

All wires are invisible unless you lifted your floor mat... or if you wanted to be realy posh just tuck the cable under the floor / door treadplate trim.

Took me no more than 5-10 minutes
