United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

With offensive notes like these its always an idea to look for nearby cameras and then ask for CCTV footage. Hence why I try and park near cameras at the gym, etc.

There are lots of angry people out there and although these people angle their rant in a clear direction the real reason for this behaviour is almost certainly due to another reason. Whilst there is often a type of driving behaviour associated not just with Rangies but with other 4 wheel drives including those ubiquitous "builders truck" type vehicles that always seem to hog disabled spaces at Homebase and Wickes, you can't go around prejudging people in this way. That sort of behaviour is verging on psychotic, and abusive notes left like these can almost be labelled as hate crime.

Maybe Rangies are being confused with Japanese builders trucks and us owners confused with bald builders with a rear cleavage that lentil munching, bike riding do gooders could park their bikes between. I could start a rant about cyclists in a similar way. The Sunday morning Lycra lads (there should be a license for wearing Lycra but that's another posting) that have no regard for other road users and cycle 3 abreast shouting as they go...Selfish just isnt the word.

But it would be unfair to stereotype everyone who wears Lycra and the cyclists who are not selfish and don't go out for an ego trip once a week. In fact it's unfair to stereo type anyone so my guess (and this is purely a guess not me pigeon holing the female in the ikea car park) is that these people writing all this stuff either on the net or on paper, are really lovers of block paving. Not only do they love the uniformity and smoothness of the suburban block, but they also love bald men, fantasise about said builders and drool over expensive cars when one whooshes past. The route of the issue here isn't these lovely cars that we're driving, its clearly the bald builders who are driving Animals and laying block pavers on suburban drives. Perhaps pavers were laid incorrectly or when they were being laid the builder parked on the pavement outside their house, or even worse maybe he asked for sugar in his tea. Who knows??

Back to the messages however and these are clearly written in anger. Like the behaviour we sometimes encounter from others. So clearly what I should have done recently when some low life black cab driver hurled abuse at me for merely sitting in traffic when he wanted to get out of a side road (patience is a virtue), was gotten out my A4 sketch pad (who carries paper in a car anyway?) and written down the name of a reputable local drive laying specialist. Or in his case I think he needed the address of a decent speech therapist.

You have to feel sorry for people who "hate" other human beings. These are individuals who are not unhappy with us, the bald Rangie drivers or owners of tidy suburban driveways, they're unhappy with themselves in my opinion and probably somewhat limited in the brain cell department.

It's one step away from physical damage like a key down the side, or in my case potential arson. I too was in my XJS and had parked up and left it with the roof down at my local shopping mall. I saw some Chav smoking and looking dead mean (as mean as anyone could look wearing a Burberry cap) as I was walking away from the car. It was that look - " what gives you the right to own a nice car you merchant banker", a car incidentaly that I've worked my butt off to buy and run (deep pockets required as any fellow owner knows). On returning to the car a couple of minutes later I drove off and could smell cigarette smoke following me everywhere. It was of course a slow burning fag that could have caused untold damage and potentially injury or worse. However in this case it left me with a burn on the carpet and the sad feeling that this World is full of arseholes.

The moral of this story of course is that the world is full of good hardworking people but its the scum and the Censored stirrers who light the blue touch paper and retire that often get to us the most. Envy is one word.

Lack of achievement and bitterness are four more...

I'm going to have words with Jeaves when he gets back. He's already had a Censored about joyriding I the Rangy! Bloody butlers!

joking aside my post hate is anyone parking in parent and child spaces without kids! Quite often have to shout to these people "excuse me you have forgotten your child" normally just get a glare but makes me feel better. worst ones are blue badge holders parking in them. It's not like they don't have enough disabled spaces without stealing others. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

I feel fortunate living where I do, most people drive 4x4's round here (necessity due to rural area not for bling factor) and touch wood we never get the sort of abuse some of you guys have experienced.

9 months and 15,000 miles into RR ownership and glad to say I haven't encountered any such behaviour yet. Does it happen to every RR driver eventually?

7 years of FFRR ownership here and I have never had any bad reaction from anyone while driving it. By contrast I seem to have issues in my BMW all the time though.

To be fair, this is the first bad experience I have had, but I remember there was a spate of attacks on 4x4 s in the village if they had a bullbar fitted, a vigilante style self proclaimed saviour of mankind type, would slice off the plastic coating on the bar and leave a pre printed letter declaiming bullbar s etc.

Having owned either a D3 or a RRS since 2005 I now have an urge to go out and buy a FF, I never before understood how easy it would be to upset a confused tree hugger.

Thumbs Up

PS it would be nice to use the outside lane of the motorway, I mistakenly thought they were reserved for German cars Very Happy Paul Redding

Offensive Notes!

Ahh.

Obviously written by the great unwashed, with too much time on their hands and a massive chip on their shoulders.

Good to see stereotyping isn't just the preserve of non RR owners. Laughing
