2005MY (MOST) reversing camera

I might have to duck to avoid the flak as this has been asked a dozen times.

Bought myself an inexpensive aftermarket reversing camera, now i just need to fit it. There is a plethra of advice for the BMW system, but finding info on MOST systems is a bit harder.

I'm not vastly bothered about using my TV again as with the digital switch over its next to useless, so figured all i need to do is change the input from the ariel to my camera and jobs a good-un?

Removing the cover i see this..

on the back of the touch screen there's a spare socket for a reverse camera , use a smb to rgb connector and connect reverse camera..you get power from the reverse lights ...activate the ccf and you're good to go.

there's a write up on this somewhere... ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan, youre a star.

I had been searching, but MOST appears in alot of posts!

I'll have to look at getting a lead and running it - Recon the headlining would be a good place to hide it. __________________

im actually in the middle of this upgrade.

I have fitted the cam, changed the CCF, but it still doesnt work.
I can get it going in the 753 screen, but not when i select reverse.

Patrick and Christian at GAP have advised me that i need the front entertainment module software reflashing to a later firmware.

Once i have had this done i will get back to you.

Australia 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

I bought and fitted a video in motion kit for my venturecam, and it automatically came with a rear cam software which seems to work well.
I'm awaiting the arrival of my cheap ebay cam, but with the VIM module in, the screen turns automatically to (blank right now) camera screen with the little coloured guidence lines superimposed on the screen.

This might be a plug and play option for you. Hopefully it will just work when I plug in my camera.....

While Im here, any advice on getting power to the Cam, most say brake lights, Stan just mentioned reversing lights.dowe it make any difference? L322 4.4 Vogue MY03 - Her name is Bulletproof .... you already know she's not Smile

getting power from the brake lights means the cam will work when the brakes are applied which isnt ideal.

connect to the reverse lights and the cam will come on when you need it, when you're reversing.... ... - .- -.

Yep Reversing lights make sense to me, just wondering why almost every other tip I've seen have said brake lights.

Maybe because its convieinant location for the high mounted brake light....

When I had my 5 series BMW which didn't have a rear view cam, I bought a video interface that had a reverse camera input. This was activated by a +12v sense wire, that I connected to the reverse light as described. I also cspliced it into the CAN bus (not the MOST bus, as this is fibre). On the rear of the BMW display there was a connector.

These are the instructions I followed:-

Reverse trigger. When 12V DC is applied to this wire, the REAR VIEW CAMERA
INPUT will automatically be displayed on the screen. This is often used for a reverse
camera setup.
GREEN WIRE Parking brake ground. Safety ground. This wire must be grounded for video in motion
to work.
OPTIONAL
CAN Control Box
SEE IMAGE IN
STEP 12
GND – Black – Ground
12V – RED – 12V DC
CAN HIGH – Attach to 5th wire/pin (BLACK – (orange on new X5)) on BMW 12 pin
oem connector behind dash.
CAN LOW – Attach to the 6th wire/pin (YELLOW – (green on new X5)) on BMW 12pin
oem connector behind dash.
The CAN control box will allow the user to switch video sources using the IDRIVE
“Menu” button on the vehicles center console, instead of having to use the remote. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
