Bank transfer is safe just make sure the clear funds show as being credited in your account...and don't part with the car until it does and make no exceptions!! |

some online accounts would show a credit on a Saturday some won't...what you cannot allow is for your car to go without having that credit being shown in your account. If the person buying your car cannot see and appreciate that then I would be very concerned, if he is a genuine buyer and really keen then he won't mind waiting until Monday...just my opinion |

Saturdays or Sundays make no difference these days. Personal bank transfers between the major banks take less than 2 hours, sometimes minutes.

Some banks open on saturdays, you could always accompany him to the bank, and he can get you the cash there and then or a bankers draft, which you can then bank at your leisure. I used to do the banking for my old man's optical practice £20k can fit in a couple of pockets, unless you are being paid in fivers........

If you see the balance in your account then I don't see the problem. Get it done in the morning to allow time for the funds to transfer. And if you have telephone banking give them a bell just to confirm that it is definitely there. Previously..

You can always accompany him to a branch of his bank and complete the transaction there - handover the V5 & keys.

Cash is a pain to put in the bank, anything over 5k and they have to fill in loads of forms because they think you are a drug dealer, bank transfers are the way to go. |

Anyhow £10k in £50 and £100 denominations isn't that bulky if you would rather have cash easily fits inside a jacket pocket

You can also accompany him to his bank and arrange the electronic transfer in the branch. That way you have the assurance of a third party facilitating the transaction. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.
