Coolant leak

Just noticed very small amount of coolant on the garage floor right at the front drivers side of the car.

Went to check level and the floating pip was sitting level with the top of the filler.

Maybe I'm not reading it right but shouldn't the pip bob up to above the neck of the filler when the cap is unscrewed?

Just wondering if I have a pipe leak although just ran the car and nothing leaking out at all. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

yes 2 pips/blobs on the float. The max level the second blob(lowest) shouod be level with the rim of the expansion tank. min level the top is flush with the rim. If your puddle is front drivers side then it's prob the rad leaking if it's never been changed. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Hi Rob,

I read the other posts and without removing the cover below the bumper it's impossible to tell, but there is a slight drip under the apron so I'm guessing it will be the rad or water pump.

It goes into the garage on Thursday so I will ask their opinion. My worryis if it gets too low the car will overheat but I'm sure a short run to the garage will be ok although I will stop at a petrol garage for water if I need to.

If its the rad then it might be an opportune time to respray my front bumper as obviously this will need to come off...

if its the rad there's no need to remove the bumper. The rad slides of from the top once the viscus can is removed. Thumbs Up [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Rob,

Thanks. I'm assuming the dealer will be able to ascertain where the leak is coming from without removing too much.

Probably will be different once she's up on a ramp. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

if you undo the fan cowling you can normally get enough of a view at the rad to see if there any staining from the coolant. Shouldn't take long to do this. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Ok thanks, hopefully the garage can have a look tomorrow.

The radiator looks ok and too new looking to be original but you never know. Will report back when I know what the issue is. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

Lets hope is is just a leaky hose or hose connection that is not on tight, like RRG had a while ago after his radiator was replaced.

Also, the older models have an expansion tank problem, not sure it that goes for yours as well. The tanks used to crack easily. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I'm glad mine is a NAS model, they seem less "sensitive" to a good Censored Smile I actually think they secretly like the f-word. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Both of mine are NAS; and neither seem to mind the occasional f-bomb lobbed in their direction.
I suppose if I were to say "I wave my private parts at your aunties, you cheesy lot of second hand electric donkey-bottom biters", they might be a bit less receptive... Jim
