Balls!

Anyone know how tight the ball joint nut should be? I've replaced the upper suspension arm (the one with a separate all joint) and the crappy pram sound seemed a bit worse if anything Shocked

I googled it and found some bulletins that said it needed to be 48nm plus a quarter turn (as opposed to my current idea of nipped up). I've just tried it at 48nm and really don't want to snap anything. I've turned it at least a full turn and it still hasn't clicked, and that was doing the turning with my foot! I'm going to try it tomorrow (blocked in by the wife).

Anyone know the number/ done it themselves? I don't want to hear a loud snapping noise! My Previous RR's!

Are you sure it's not just turning inside the joint? I always thought it was annoying that you had to use a ring spanner and an allen key in the centre- how are you supposed to use a torque wrench?

I'm watching your results with interest as I am planning to do upper and lower arms with all ball joints soon, thanks for parts supplied by Dan @Duckworths.

Thumbs Up

Should nt need to be mega tight. 48nm is pretty "nipped up'

Wheels etc are about 140nm for comparison, even that isnt standing on it teritory. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Maybe I need an air ratchet.... I hadn't even thought it might be turning. Hopefully not as its tapered AND has the car weight on it. I'll update tomorrow if its worked. The manual says it should be 60nm. I'll try that if it doesn't work. My Previous RR's!

If you snap it when tightening it up then you won't need to worry about it napping whilst driving. Whistle

I hope it doesn't snap! It isn't an expensive part but doesn't look like its going to come out without some sort of special tool. I think it's pressed into the hub (I only replaced the arm and bush) My Previous RR's!

Yeah, fair point the full weight of the car on the taper should hold it pretty snug. Hope you get it sorted!
