'07 Sidelight Lens Melting

Just noticed this on my new '07 S/C. Top of the lens looks like it's melted. Both sides are the same.

Luckily, there was another '07 (TDV8) parked nearby. It's got a tiny bit of this but not as much.

Anyone able to tell me what's going on? Nothing is malfunctioning here so it appears caused by excessive heat.

I assume a proper fix is the entire replacement of the lights?

I Suspect it is heat from the cornering bulb (Extra lamp that cones on when you have nmore than 70 degrees of lock on) that has caused the damage.

I am sure I read somewhere that after about 30 seconds they can generate enough heat to start melting the lamp casing. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Its the adaptive/cornering bulbs heating it up too much. Are they the right spec?

I'd be tempted to put in a warranty claim if possible and then when replaced switch to LED's to stop it happening again.

Dont forget there isnt much space around them for heat to dissipate and at some of the temps we have seen over the last few years they will have gone from -10 to +20'c very quickly at times and in that confined area... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks gents. Thumbs Up

The S/C's popping back to the dealer soon for a few things to be sorted and I'll add this to the list. Si. <This is my name.

Yes, agreed. Thumbs Up But I have to get the lenses corrected first if I'm being completely pedantic about this.

Are the LED's a straight swap or do they require a wiring modification to work properly? Si. <This is my name.

Are you in for a new desk Will Wink Wink Wink Wink

I totally agree you would need new headlights, this is ridiculous, I wouldn't want that either.

Ask Craig if he has some lying around from his 2010 facelift jobs if the garage starts being "difficult" Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

ha ha, i could just see some of my colleagues faces if i tried that as well as the 'well at least that one works at least' type stuff!!

Was thinking more of having a semi decent set for off road jollies as i refuse to pay fleabay prices for them and they are simples to swap out and take about 15mins all in including the grille Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Well, the main dealer response to this will be interesting (has sir left full lock on whilst cleaning/ maintaining.. swapped the bulbs etc).

Fingers crossed...

That thought had occurred to me.

Luckily, I have pictures of mine on the day of the test drive and you can clearly see the same defect when zooming in on the picture. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.
