Sat Nav Power Light

Hi all
i have a 04 vogue with a minor power drain, if left for more than 36hrs the battery goes flat. I have replaced battery but no change, earlier tonight i noticed the sat nav power light stays on after the car has entered sleep mode.
To eliminate this is the cause can anybody confirm if the sat nav power light should be on or off when the car is in sleep mode.

Thanks in advance.

When you say sat nav light

I take it you mean the cd drive in the boot
Is it a mk3,

They should shut down after about 3 mins

Remember reading somewhere that a 'design flaw' of shutting the boot as the last door shut meant the sat nav remained powered on.

Many thanks for the reply's, the nav unit is a MK3 and the red power light on the cd drive stays on after the driver door has been shut. The car enters sleep mode (gear selector light off) but the nav drive power light stays on, hope this clarifies things. Thumbs Up

Tim

are you noting the sat nav light being on by looking through tailgate glass with the parcel shelf folded forward and the cover removed when the car is asleep as this is the only way to see if it shuts down , because as soon as you open a door or unlock etc the sat nav will power up Thumbs Up 1990 3.5 v8 defender

I'll roll out the old favourite as a starter: battery disconnection procedure.

If that doesn't work may be worth getting in touch with Baris, to see if he can check the unit over for faults etc. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

You could just remove Fuse 49 and leave the car for a while.
If the battery doesn't go flat the sat nav is probably your problem.
To double check replace fuse 49 and un-plug sat nav unit.
If the battery still doesn't go flat, your sat nav is not shutting down correctly hence the battery drain.

Very Happy Ok so ive unplugged the Sat Nav and everything appears to be fine, so its probably the Sat Nav not shutting down.
Where does the Sat Nav get the signal from to power down?? If its in the unit itself then i'll replace but if its elsewhere then i'll have to investigate further.

Thanks.
