I can see some benefit of doing this but what is so hard about lifting the bonnet and connecting jump clamps to the the two connector posts provided in the FFRR ? They are easy to get to, and no special connectors needed? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I did it because you get a much better connection than clamps - I always struggled on the FF to get a really good connection - and they're not coming lose or falling off

I can also join 2 cables together for a really long (9m) run if I need to.

Not compelling reasons I agree, but I'm glad I did it.

I charge mine using the towing electrics socket on the back - seems to work fine Obviously no good for jump start but fine for c- tek 7 amps and I don't need to open the bonnet or even the car Thumbs Up Geoff

The main reason I want something along these lines is to make jumping of other vehicles that much easier when I need to it. Knowing my luck I would install it and never need it again Very Happy

But having the ability to simply connect in and then be able to jump onto the other vehicles battery would be good, especially in the cold when wearing gloves one less fiddly thing makes life better Smile

I saw one once installed on an FFRR that came and picked something up from me when i lived in donny but i cant recall his ebay user ID to ask him about it Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

They are a bit pricey Sad And still jump posts that are close together as well Sad

I'd rather have something that is shielded and prevents shorts as much as possible Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The only trouble with externally mounted connectors of any type is the risk of vandalism.
Any minded smart-a.se only has to bridge the terminals with a piece of metal and your car is potentially on fire shortly afterwards.
Apparently this is a problem with winches with external connections which aren't capable of being isolated when not in use.
To isolate the +ve terminal you may have to resort to a relatively expensive heavy duty relay or a relatively inexpensive battery isolating switch either of which would probably have to be installed under the bonnet somewhere.
Not sure by the time you add all this in it's just not easier to open the bonnet.
I think the solution adopted by Alistair above is the most sensible. Thumbs Up

Would a suitable fuse not cover this though??

That way if it was shorted the fuse would blow first? im guessing the fuse would need to be at least rated to 100amp if not 140? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thsi should do the job.

I think they are called Maxi Fuses that are fitted to some new LR's next to the battery to help protect it from any shorts in the system feeding back to kill it. I had one blow on the Censored SSRR that killed itself thankgod. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Do you have any idea how long it takes to pop the bonnet and lift it ???? He's a busy man. Mr. Green

Ha ha a Jeeves!! If the divorce goes well I could have the ex stuffed in the boot to perform such duties but it might be too good for her lol!!

Seriously its not a big pain doing the bonnet and hooking up but I would like something that's easier on my end of connection as I'm never happy with the connections 100% but they do the job Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I cant afford a Jeeves as the rangie has bled me dry Big Cry

Am interested in these as well as the two times I've had to jump her,one the cables werent long enough and second time with my (new) longer cables we couldnt get a good enough connection to start first time, the battery is an awkward Censored to clamp to as too many cables and connectors in there already
