Mine broke. It was apparently unrepairable, a new one was ฃ1400 Shocked ... Warranty Direct paid because the fault was (it seems) in the internal ECU Wink , which they DO cover. The FBH itself wasn't covered.

These people offer a reconditioning service, but you have to send the unit off. They seemed very knowledgeable when I called them, may be worth a try...:

does it fire up Mick?

I had a similar problem with mine, it was firing up then there was a graunching noise from the solenoid valve on the rear bulkhead and it shut down.

The MD had to replace the entire unit ฃ1300 on warranty. I thought it would just be a new solenoid valve but was apparenlty an an entire FBH unit required, it was probably just the ecu in it though sending an errant signal to the valve, and they arent available separately to the dealers.

might be worth a try having it repaired as there really isnt much to the system bar the ecu, the valve and the fuel pumps.

One thing to check is that the water pump on the unit isnt jammed, it is accessible through the arch with the liner removed. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Just tried mine this morning for the first time (2004 4.4V8 petrol) and everything worked: on pressing the remote, lights flashed red, fan started up and ran for c.17 minutes, but no heat!! Does this mean the glow plug is kaput or is there another cause?(sorry Joker, not trying to hijack your thread, but are your symptoms similar?)

^^

That sounds like its running for the right amount of time. Check its firing, by getting underneath ans seeing if the flie gasses are warm, the exgaust for it it by the passenger side lower control arm.

If its is running spunds like its not diverting the water to the heater matrix in the car. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

From that it looks like the fbh fired bt was circulating the coolant round the block not the heater matrix, could be the solenoid valve which diverts the flow to the matrix. Cheaper than an entire unit. However a pig to get at.

This is what i thought was up with mine tho. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ
