So I went to check my spare wheel well over as I want to sound proof it tomorrow (exhaust is resonating a little) and noticed some leaves and dampness / small pool of water near the compressor. I'm not really sure how this is getting in, and my car has had the plastic bag fix put in around the AV kit.

Is it normal for any water to be in this area? I have had some soggy stuff in the boot, but nothing that I would have thought would create this amount of fluid.

Not had personal experience, touch wood and all that, but I believe the usual water access points are the seal at the bottom of the side window, or behind where the rear bumper bolts come through. I think there is a rectangular cap of some sort that I remember from a pic.

Sometimes the rubber seal on the upper tailgate can give issues, but I'd imagine you'd have a damp boot floor carpet as well.

If I were a betting man, I'd say behind the rear bumper if the carpets are dry......

Aaah didn't think about the rear bumper. Well that's knackered anyway after 2 rear end shunts this year. Was waiting till after any snow till I got it sorted. Might have to double check it's not got any gaps in it then ...

Get the garage/insurance to fix it for you. Put the leak down to the shunts. Get them to check the compressor hasn't been underwater. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Check your sunroof drain holes. The rear ones come down near the rear boot and if the NRV is stuck, it floods over into a gulley and comes to the back area where your bumpers are bolted on. This then fills up and comes over the lip at the rear of the car (inside where the wheel well is) into the spare wheel well.

I to have experiencing problems with water in the boot spare wheel but i believe mine is coming in from the drivers side not the passenger side as thats bone dry.

The corner well and inside bumper housing is get water in there but there is no obvious place its coming from, however ive been going through all the posts on here and found about the boot seal causing issues and found this on the upper right hand corner of my boot seal

I had exactly the same as you but on the passenger side.
If you notice where you pulled off the tailgate seal the metal flange on which the seal sits is in two pieces side by side. You will see a gap between the two pieces.
Due to the deficient tailgate seal the water gets under the seal and drains thro the gap between the pieces of the flange. The water then tracks between the body panels and appears at the bottom rear of the boot and then drains into the wheel well. The water also runs between the interior D post trim and the D post and drips out into the rear side compartment.
I renewed the tailgate seal and the problem when away.
Given all the rain this year this does seem to be an effective solution, not a drip in the boot since.

Quality stuff, ill order one up now

ive sourced a seal which im gonna go and get and fit tomorrow

for tonight ive took all the bits out talc powdered the inside of the section to see exactly where its coming from

Im confident it is the seal and not the bumper beam supports as i had a thurle tow bar fitted a year ago and there is some heavy duty rubber gaskets between the bar and the car

Fill the gap between the two flanges with silicone ? .
