4.4 gas jag need info on removing fan

Yesterday, a whining noise started that goes up and down with the speed of the motor. It used to only happen when the a/c was on but now it's constant. Accordingly, I referred to the new manual using Alldata which is the exact information that LR provides on their pay site. In order to get to the belts and pulleys, I need to drop the coolant and remove engine cooling fan and then the fan shroud. Fun stuff. I have spoken to some people that know more about this than I, but there is conflicting info because of the BMW v. Jaguar engines. I have some questions:

1. Where is the drain clock for the coolant system?
2. If I'm looking from the front of the car towards the front of the engine, does the nut between the fan and the clutch come off clockwise or counter clockwise?
3. Anything special about filling back up the coolant? Bleeding and such?
4. Has anyone toyed with the idea of cutting the fan shroud in half and modding it so that it's easier to deal with in these instances? I can't imagine Trying to deal with a broken fan or accessory belt on the trails.
5. Is there an easier way to do this that I don't know about?

Thanks

Have a look online for a document (PDF) with below title. I found it while looking for info on the engine and transmission. It is very detailed with regards to the engine make-up. When you replace the belt, also replace the tension roller assembly, that is (hopefully) the source of the whining noise. I normally replace them together.

Water drain is on the right hand side of the rad as you stand looking in at the engine compartment with a red cap...

I had exactly the same issue and it turned out to be the A/C compressor. '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

Spray a little WD40 onto the bearing of the tensioner roller (make sure it does not go onto the belt !!!).
Are you sure it is not belt squeak ?? That can be resolved by holding a candle against the running surface of the belt, the parafin stops the squeak but doesn't make it too slippery. You would need to change the belt and/or tensioner anyway but at least it stops the noise for a bit. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Well I gave it a few hours today in between getting other things done. I have everything out except for the drivers side bolt on the shroud. I still need to undo the fan but I don't know if I can get it back on again. Bloody torx screws are a PITA as well. The drain cock was on the passenger side (left hand drive) and a 1/2" clear plastic hose made draining a snap. Everything else is as per the instructions. I'll have another go at it tomorrow. I have until Thursday to fix it myself or it goes to the shop. and we all know how they love to fix things that someone else has take apart.

Thanks for all the help and information.
