Fitting Telestart Heater control

Hi Everyone

Thinking of fitting a Telestart control box and getting a T91 remote control for the heater.

Couple of questions my car is a TD6 Vogue so is it a simple plug in job or would the ibus system need to be programmed?

Any help appreciated

Gary

Managed to buy a Telestart & remote but i will be Censored if i can find the connectors? - the repair manual says they are on the drivers side rear but can not locate the plugs.

Can someone post a picture of their telestart (mine is a 2002 Vogue TD6)

Any help welcome

Hi Noddy

I have found a small square multipin plug (White) cable tied to the loom on the drivers side rear but the Telestart has a rectangular socket and a coax type connector for the arial.

Can find the coax connector or the rectangular plug?

Is there an intermediate fly lead? and how does it connect to the TV receiver.
Confused

Gary

Hi Gary,
As I posted in the other thread (linked to by mjdronfield above), you'll need to have the park heat function activated for the remote to work. AFAIK, the only LR diagnostic systems capable of this are the IIDTool, BBS MSV, Autologic, or OEM T4/IDS. If this would have been possible without programming, I would have had park heat several years ago - long before GAP Diagnostic was formed and the IIDTool developed. I tried all of this - all here in several year old threads somewhere. Cool

You don't need the remote receiver to make this work if you have park heat activated. Your white plug has 3 wires: red/? = +, Bn/? = Gnd, and Gn/Wt = signal to FBH. ( I hope I'm remembering the colors correctly). All you have to do is bridge the + and the Gn/Wt and your FBH should start running if activated. If not, you'll need to get it activated first.

The reason you have a white plug that does not fit into the remote receiver is because you have an early L322 which had the Webasto T60 remote rather than the T80/90 series.

The function on the later receivers is exactly the same, tho, and if you check the wiring diagrams in the RAVE you can even solder the 3 wires to the appropriate pins if you like - or source the correct connector from a breaker. This is a T90:

OEM, the antenna for the remote is the TV antenna on the right side rear window with a different antenna amplifier than TV only. Info is in the RAVE. This is VW but it looks similar to what you would need if you wanted to go all original:

As parts are hard to find used and very expensive new, I'd just go with a window antenna behind the C-pillar cover or similar. Webasto window antennas can be seen in the remote reciever pics above - the flat rectangular bit with the wire coming out (the one in the t90 pic is blue).
TBH, tho, if you are not interested in maximum range, try various lengths of wire in the antenna connector... Razz

Programming a new remote for a T91 Webasto Aux Heater

Hello Gents. My name is Paul and I own an L322 VSE TDV8 on a 57 plate that has the Aux Heater fitted.

I have contacted the LR dealer who has checked the VIN and they confirmed the vehicle has the heater fitted (I knew that as I use it utilizing the timer controls) and that if I purchased a remote fob from them at £80, they could then programme it up for £50....cheers LR guys

I have done the usual trick of purchasing a genuine brand new fob on line and wanted to see if any fellow forum users know if I can programme this myself ??(the webasto website gives instructions about removal of a fuse whilst pressing the fob buttons but i'm not sure this is applicable on LR vehicles)

Any advice would be welcomed

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul
Pulling the fuse on a 57 plate doesn't work it's for earlier models but if you find the T90 receiver in the back right compartment it's usually behind the metal plate you can unbolt , just pull the power lead instead of pulling the fuse and press the buttons withins ten-seconds . 2008 MY Supercharged

Thanks Axle.

I'll give that a try over the W/E and let you know how I go on for future reference.

Paul.
