A good test will be to switch it on manually (or via the timer) and stand outside the car. If you can hear a clicking then it should be working as this noise is the fuel pump pulsing fuel into it. Do this with the engine not running. FFRR TD6 06MY. Cairns Blue, Blue Hide. LR 7 Spoke 20" Wheels, S/C Grill and Vents. Privacy Glass and Side Steps

hi, i was told that only diesels have them and not petrols...true or false.. and if you have it how long does it take to warm up. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

that sounds about right about only diesels having them fitted, i have read that somewhere before im sure of it! they take about a minute to run through the start up procedure but it will take about ten to fifteen minutes to warm the water up in the engine (if the engine isnt running)

If you had one fitted you will notice that if the temp outside is less than 5 degrees and you start the engine then the FBH will start automatically to help warm up the engine quicker Thumbs Up

The FBH was fitted to all TD6s as standard but control of it via the computer and remote fob was optional and then added later in the MYs.

Starting it manually should be available via the computer - an option somewhere like aux heating / park heating?. In the MY05 onwards cars it's called Timed Climate.

The petrol models also were available with a FBH but it was optional and not many people bought it - so it's probably unlikely you've got one.

Envoy is right, about 10 - 15 mins running to get the cabin nice and warm.

After reading RAVE, it appears that if the FBH is activated when then engine isn't running it uses diverter valves to heat the coolant just through the heater matrix and not the whole system - these then switch over to the full system when it's started from cold and under 5deg C ambient temp. FFRR TD6 06MY. You can buy timers or remote sytems on ebay that will bring it to life. Timers are around £65 and the full webasto remote system is around £175 ish

I'll take some pics of what a FBH looks like so you can see if you can spot it, no point ordering the bits if you dont have the heater Whistle '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs

The FBH is under the battery tray - so it's invisible without dismantling stuff...

You should be able to see the exhaust of the FBH by looking down the right-hand side of the engine towards the floor. It's a metal pipe about 1" in diameter that just pokes out of the right-hand side.

My car is at the garage otherwise I'd take a pic for you to see FFRR TD6 06MY. Cairns Blue, Blue Hide. LR 7 Spoke 20" Wheels, S/C Grill and Vents. Privacy Glass and Side Steps
