Shark Fin / Antenna Removal - height reasons

I used to have a 2002 Range Rover Vogue which JUST fitted in my garage when in access mode.

I then moved to a RR Sport and then to the dark side with an X5 Sad

However I want to return to FFRR but the new models have the Shark Fin antenna which makes the height even in access mode just too high to get under my garage door.

I don't really want to have to replace my garage door ... so does anyone know of any options to remove the antenna and replace with something flush?

I am looking at a 2007 Vogue.

The shark fin is for the GPS..? Just wondering..

But the IID tool could lower ur access mode more for u, can someone confirm if access mode is adjustable or is it generally set at the lowest level the ffrr can go?

Thumbs Up

A bit extreme I know, but if I couldn't get the fin sorted to allow access, I'd be cutting bits out the garage floor near the door to make a drop, so it clears.

You could have a metal grate thing over it when the cars not going in and out.

I know its extreme, but I'd look at it.

You may well not want to hack your house about, and again, this may only work if its just got to clear the door......

Thanks ... I understand there is a later model antenna which is lower so I am going to check the height with that.

Can't really hack the garage door but may have to replace!

The info that I can find suggests:

Height:

73.3 in (1,862 mm) (2002–2005)
74.9 in (1,902 mm) (2006–2009)
73.9 in (1,877 mm) (2010–present)

My 2003 did fit.

Looks like the 2010 model is 25mm lower I am guessing the difference is the shark fin?

Strangely ..... from a different forum ...

"Extract from my manual (2007 TDV8):

A Overall width 2 216 mm 87.2 in
Overall width (mirrors folded) 2 034 mm 80.1 in
B Overall height
- Access height 1 820 mm 71.7 in
- Motorway height 1 840 mm 72.4 in
- Standard height 1 865 mm 73.4 in
- Off-road height 1 913 mm 75.3 in "

Looks like I need to get the car up here on Monday to test for sure !
