230 deg. F is the engine coolant temperature set by the electric thermostat when not under load so this is the temperature of the coolant sent to the transmission fluid cooler. This is therefore a normal temperature for the transmission fluid too. The TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT message is only displayed if the fluid temperature exceeds 280 deg. F
