Just curious. I'm at 107K and still on all four original airbags. Wondering when one (or more) will give up the ghost. And with as much as I travel and find myself far away from any LR dealer or workshop, I'm debating just ordering four brand new units and fitting them for peace of mind. Any thoughts?? Cheers,

If you plan on keeping it for a while, you'll eventually have to replace them, along with dampers, if you have not change them already.
you should change the airbags now and enjoy peace of mind right away rather than wonder when it may happen, then change them, as you said in the middle of nowhere, possibly at a higher cost!

Definitely plan on keeping this truck for a good while so yeah, I think you're right.

No, I am thinking it more as a proactive measure because I travel far and wide for my job and there are vast stretches of nothingness here in the US where I'd really hate to get caught out with a knackered suspension. Of course, a new part can fail too, so maybe I'd better stick with the airplane regimen for longer trips. Then again, most of the US carriers now use piddly little things such as ERJs for most intercontinental flights and, well, the comfort of those isn't quite on par with the Lux interior on the Rangie  Cheers,

it is good (not military bombproof) system and FFRR isn't P38

bergxu, My FFRR has done 100K miles on the same air bags and I have to agree with you that the seats are more comfortable than a piddly ERJ. However the ERJ does 500 MPH.

Why not inspect them? Check them when in off road setting, look around the bottom of all 4 bags (maybe clean them if not done recently) Your looking for tail tail signs of threads showing and abnormal wear in the rubber...

We clean them at every service as grit in the lower bags create wear!

That said, i have customers that have done 200k+ without problems and those that have had a punctured bag in under 10k!

I'm at 140k on the original bags...

just passed 200k [200007kms] on originals. Have a sneaking suspicion that the rear left height sensor is on its way out though

122k on the original bags and my FFRR was a farmers car before I bought it

105k miles on mine. I clean the grit off the front struts pretty regularly, but not really bothered with the rears so far. So far all ok with mine.

they definitely seem better wearing than the P38a bellows .... I think the cross hatching pattern where it folds goes a long way to help the flexing without cracking. V8 or else ...

Hi, I guess it totally depends on where you drive the thing. I've just replaced the fronts on my '03 that's got just 74k on the clock, but then it gets very muddy on a daily basis and was cleaned for the first time in 18mnths in order that they could be replaced. The mechanic wouldn't have been too chuffed with 3 inches of gloopy mud and horse manure! Of course, the rubber will just naturally get brittle and split with age if anything anyway.

Best place to get replacements currently, as mentioned by someone previous, is Island 4x4. Delphi OEMs are £265 inc. VAT, which seems to be cheaper than anyone else can get them trade, and almost half the price a dealer will do you for. They also appear very good, so far, at getting the parts to you quickly.
