Very quiet high pitch noise after turning off.

Hi all

I have started to get a very quiet but high pitched tone after turning my 2007 TDV8 off and exiting. If I stand outside the car with it locked I can hear this tone for quite a while but have to listen because its very quiet, the missus wouldn't know its there for example.

Its as if something electrical is still on after I lock up.I know the car doesn't shut down immediately but should it make this high pitched tone?. I don't recall hearing it over the past few months until now. Recently had battery problems and have fitted a new one, also had software updates at a specialist.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Carl

I dont know if the tdv8 is like the 4.4 V8 petrol, but there is a fan in the black ECU box in the engine bay which runs for a fair amount of time after switch off. The fan draws air from the cabin into the ECU box to cool it down. Could it be that? When the fan runs normally, it is very quiet.

Can you tell from which side of the engine bay its coming from? V8 or else ...

Same car, same noise. Always presumed it is an electrical component that stay on for a little longer. Goes quiet after a few mins. Near the fron n/s wheel.

Yes, when standing at passenger side front wheel I can hear it the most.

Its not something I used to notice so wasn't sure if it was normal or not?
