Cheers ndfi I'll look into that on my days off this week. Got plenty of cable to replace it with to test and will then use some proper connector and fuse

NDF i forgot to ask what if anything you have in place of said relay or if it was just blank?!? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Just a blank space, I assume the necessary link between terminals is on the back of the fuseboard. |

I didn't do it but in the car wiring diagrams there are two alternative options shown, one for the cigar sockets live all the time and one for the sockets ignition controlled by the relay.
