The jlr engine is one the most reliable engines in a range rover. The BMW is one of the worst.
I'd place it worse than the crank breaking diesels which are at least reliable until the day they break. |

Engine light flashing is a misfire, I'd look at the easy stuff first before going to VANOS. Oil on plugs, blocked cat, PCV issues, vacuum leak can all cause a misfire or rough running.

Surprised at the lack of TD6s.
I assume the lack of 4.4 JLRs have something to do with the introduction of the TDV8, I'd expect the NA petrol engine to last longer in general. |

Today I felt it in P!
I have an intermittent belt squeal when cold - could a worn/loose tensioner cause the vibration d'you think? Seemed worse when AC cycled but was still there with AC off. |
