Also check there is no corrosion in your tow socket.
I had my Defender into a tow specialist as my trailer would not work. Turned out that the tow socket was all corroded (plus wired incorrectly) ... |

Thanks, I have the whole plug and play package which includes the Siemens unit. It's wired to a 13 pin socket. I will next see if the connectors are live or not.
