Tried peering down the side of the battery and can't see a thing

1. Have Aux Ventilation on my OBC and it gives me the flashing red fan and the green triangle, and the fans come on, no other noises, but no heat (was in a warm car at the time) so it either is broken or not there.

2. Have a Fuse 59 - 20amp

3. There are two coolant pipes disappearing into the cavity below the battery, but no valve on them (it seems the vale thingy wasn't always fitted?)

4. Never had a Remote Control

5. Where would the exhausts come out below the engine?

Any other clues, other than taking the battery /battery tray out. .

I'm pretty sure that all diesels sold in Europe had it as standard, and the cabin heater was an option; no doubt someone with more knowledge than I have will be along in a mo' Graham

Should be there.
The flue outlet is a pipe about 20mm dia pointing approx to the centre of the car on the passenger side directly below the battery position.
You can feel the flue gases coming out if the heater is operating.

I think it was only fitted as standard on diesels of Vogue and above, not the HSE. Discovery 4 HSE

It doesn't work though...

It was fitted to all td6's to overcome the problem of diesel engines running cold for ages on start up. Bit embarrassing for such a prestige car not having a working cabin heater for the first 10+ miles otherwise.

All FFRR diesel have a FBH, it helps heating up the engine faster so it will give faster heating in the cabin.
Below 5°C, the FBH will not be activated when you start the engine, sitting in your car you will normaly not notice that the FBH is activated.

Parking heating was an option, on future models Vogue etc. and dpending on sales regions it cam estandard.
Parking heating means one can activate the FBH without the engine running: manualy through the central information center including a timed setting or by means of a remote control.
Just buying a remote ( sender and reciever will NOT work). Proper software needs to be loaded ( by LR).
Cars originally fitted with a Park heatng system have the change over valves fitted between engin cooling system and the HVAC system so the FBH will heat the interiour through the HVAC and not the engin. RR 2012MY TDV8 AB ipanema sand

ALL diesels have them regardless of spec. Whether it is accesable from the MID is a different story - the fact you have Aux Vent rather than Aux Heating points to the fact it isnt enabled in the SW... 

Mines listed as "Aux Vent" on th obc but operates below 6C on engine startup.
A message displays telling me it's operating. Checked the flue outlet and it does operate.

If you turn aux vent on it will just vent.

Joe a few lads on the X5 forums have been doing this. If you don't have the factory screen you can wire up a simple remove system for about £40-50 from maplins. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

Plenty of people on the D3 site and some of the RRS lot have been adding extra controls for their FBH's.

Bell auto's do a simple kit for the D3/4 & RRS, possibly would also work on the FFRR where you can activate your heater via text message. I thought this would be particularly cool as I could send a text once my plane has landed and by the time I get to the car it would be nice and warm

I think that Webasto also do a kit with various options

I have the satnav screen, but it only shows Aux Ventilation (don't remember seeing Aux heating) and my screen doesn't look like the one dan_uk put up (although my colour scheme is different)

I don't appear to have a remote receiver in the boot, but I didn't look closely (it's hidden under the rear fuse box ?)

I'll have to do more investigation, but with the weather like it is and garage full of MG and spare wheels, and dark when I leave in the morning and dark when I get home it'll have to wait til the weekend.

I'm in the same position as Joe90. Can't see a receiver in the boot and never had a remote.

Over the last few days though during the cold snap, theres a message on the dash on startup saying "pre heating". 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
