United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

Got my car back from Marshalls body shop yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results. They striped off the old seam sealer, etch primed and painted behind the wheel arch liners and they sorted the wheel arch lips. As a bonus the re-painted the near side rear quarter panel which I had scratched on a friends gate post.

They have done an excellent job, the colour and finish are fantastic Thumbs Up

It cost me nothing as it was covered by the corrosion warranty Smile

Ahah, that''s interesting, I tried this with no success... How bad was it? Could you upload a "before" photo? Graham

I posted a photo of the near side wheel arch on page 2 of this thread which shows the rust just starting to lift the paint. The offside was worse as there was clearly visible brown rust breaking through the seam sealer, but sadly I did not take any photos Sad

I believe LR take a number of different factors into account such as whether the anti perf checks have been done annually, whether he car has a full service history and whether you bought it from a main dealer.

If its like the Mercedes anti corrosion warranty, the length of ownership is also taken into account. So if you bought pre-owned rusty car, then that should have been reflected in the price you paid, but if you bought a car that since rusted and its still within the anti corrosion warranty then they will pay for the repair.

There are no doubt other factors as well. LR approved my wheel arch and wheel arch lip repair, but they rejected a rusty seam on the floor pan, so I'm going to have to do that one myself.

As far as I can tell, I'm one of only a few that have successfully claimed from the LR corrosion warranty.

Thanks Justin.

I had mine (which was not as bad as yours) inspected at Lookers in Stortford, they rejected it; I then wrote to LR, they considered it and also rejected it.

As it seems that some people are successful with LR, I'll have another go with Land Rover before I pay my local body shop to do the work. Would you mind if I quoted your case in my appeal? If you're OK with this, please PM me your and your car details?

Many thanks Graham

I had this rust on the inside face of the rear arches, just the 1 inch wide fold that is partly covered by the rear door rubber. Seems inevitable that it would happen, exposed metalwork being bashed by stones, grit, salt and water and mud.

I rubbed mine down, then used satin black Hammerite, then two coast of sprayed on Stornoway and then 2 coats of clear lacquer. Look good as new now. Discovery 4 HSE

You shouldn't have to do that on a three year old car. Hopeless. Can't be a surprise to LR that the wheels go round and may chuck grit or stones up. No other car I've ever owned has had problems with wheelarch corrosion at 3 years old. Graham

Well, no, but stuff like this does take the edge off a bit. I'd rather spend the money on fuel.... Whistle Graham

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

After a good clean last weekend I noticed similar rust on the lower edge of my upper tailgate to previous posts here. When I raised the tailgate I can see that it originates along the seal/seam of the panel, and goes quite far along (I found it odd that I haven't noticed this before as I clean under here regularly). A full inspection of the car later and I can also see few very minor blemishes in the rear wheel arches.

This is a 2007 car and has luckily had all of its bodywork inspection stamps in the book. Dealer/bodyshop have compiled their recommendation to LR for a new rear tailgate and repair to the wheel arches and I await their response. 1 week later and it's already getting significantly worse on the tailgate so it seems to be deteriorating quite quickly.

Love the car to bits, but must admit that if they don't agree to do this under warranty, I'll be selling it when my 12 month 'approved' warranty expires next May, and cursing the day I traded in my trusty D3!

Fingers crossed for you, they took almost 3 weeks to approve the repair to my 2006, but as I got the answer I was looking for, it was worth the wait.

Good news - just had confirmation that LR have approved the replacement of the upper tailgate, and are still making a decision about what to do with the rear arches, pending further paint thickness checks.

Phew!
