Personally I like the deployable side steps. They work fine for me. The post from me above shows that it's just a switch to lock the steps for jacking. My 85 year old mum uses them no problem and she's wheel chair bound. They were also no trouble and well out of the way during the Salisbury Plain off roading recently, although the mud did stick between the step and the sill. Once open they were easy to clean.

You are in Manchester - don't expect it will stop raining any time soon I used to live in Bolton - the webbed feet have only just returned to normal 2012 5.0L S/C

Maybe the fuse is blown or missing and therefore you are getting no joy from the switch? On mine the fuse is the first of the large vertical ones (30A F61) on the far right of the main fuse box behind the glove compartment. I sometimes remove this when the steps are out to absolutely make sure that they don't retract when i jack the car. MY2007 S/C - Stornoway / Jet |

Sorry if forgot to add that you can download the installation manual from LR TOPIX website, although you are not fitting them it does show all the components, where they are on the vehicle, and how they are connected. A good start for any possible fault finding. Try this link it should work hopefully! http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/co...de%20steps MY2007 S/C - Stornoway / Jet |

As far as I can tell, Topix only gives access to the really useful stuff to registered trade users. If you are registered I guess the link will work; if you're not it dumps you at the login screen... Graham

I'm not registered and the link i posted works fine on my computer, but not on my Ipad. Why that is i have no idea I agree that to get the good stuff you have to be a registered 'paying' user but i don't think it's restricted to the trade as a few people i know use it with a paid one day access at a time and download what they need and then some that may be useful in the future.
