Hi all ,
I am a new member and have just got my 2 nd range ,which is fitted with deployable side steps ! The seller told me that 1 just needed to be taken off and greased as this was a common fault and had turn them off but I can't find out to turn them back on ? Any help please

rave is a downloadable workshop manual but i believe it only goes up to 2005 as happy has pointed out....

I picked up these instructions from somewhere but can't remember where. The bit about turning on is near the end but the rest is vital info:

RR Sidesteps Operation:

To force the steps to stay out regardless of the position of the doors, what LR call 'roof access and jacking mode' get in the vehicle and close the doors, quickly insert the key in the dash and turn to position two, whilst steps still out, then hold the switch for about five seconds until the light in the switch illuminates continuously then remove the key. The steps will now stay out regardless of the position of the doors unless you drive away or lock the vehicle at which point they will return to their normal function.

If the steps are working and you want to disable them: insert the key in the dash in position 1 and hold the switch whilst turning the key to position 2, the light in the switch will flash twice to confirm the system is now off. To turn the system on repeat the procedure but the light will now flash three times to confirm the system is now on. 2012 5.0L S/C

The Westminster I borrowed a while back had a switch in the overhead console. Like the interior lights function MANUAL/DOORS/OFF. I switched them off as well, completely useless and banged my ankle more than once 'cos they were too slow deploying.

I think I read on FFRR somewhere that they also need to come off in order to jack the car up. Take them off and get the fixed ones is my advice. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster
