Sorry, please revisit my earlier post - same radio afterall.

Thanks for the pm Daveo Smile

I will hopefully be picking up some pin connectors tomorrow so that I can connect up the AV and the IBus interface .

Joe did you consider installing something like an optiplex fx series from dell in the boot instead as the space it would take up would be a near perfect fit, allows 6 USB connections straight into it, wifi, large internal HDD, ability to have external data mounting made up(not eSATA) and is very tweakable and can take 16gb ram and run win 7 quite happily and has one fan just to cool the HDD which isn't needed for normal pc use in my testing of them Wink oh and with the mini pci-x on the board you can stick a 3G module if you wanted or anything that takes your fancy Smile

I am enjoying reading this Joe as it makes me wonder why I bothered with pre facelift Sad

the green wire is the ground switch wire and goes to pin 17.. when the interface receives the command from carx on start up,the usb interface grounds this wire and it will switch your monitor to av only..this is all it will do, the other part of the interface will carry on watching the ibus commands.

now does your pc have a video out, single yellow rca on the back, this is used to output the carx program
you need to put the start command in the start up on the pc so when you switch the pc on windows will start and run straight in to carx. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

@kingpleb

Prefer the netbook approach due to low power requirements (12v adapter - easy) plus now have a working screen AAONE so makes things easier to configure ( I may even do this wirelessly using remote desktop from the comfort of my study!). The Optiplex is a nice little machine though. I'll probably be throwing a stripped version of XP at the solution, if I don't decide to install Linux and try and figure out the iBus messaging and commands Wink

@daveo

Many thanks, just the green lead then for the iBus Smile

I have the VGA-RCA/phono converter but need to get some connector pins to link up the AV side of things.

I'll be working up all the PC side of things once I have dealt with the hardware installation.

Onwards Smile .

Yes, got it Smile

Went to LR/BMW (Harwoods in Basingstoke today) - they don't sell/have connector pins

Apparently: part number 61130005197 from BMW

so I'll have to see if I can raid a spare connector or maybe I have a cunning plan !! .

Yes daveo - see the USB cable in the picture! Been using it to send video to a second TV from Media Centre at home so should be fine in the car.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Re iBus - still feel I should be connecting the white wire somewhere.......
I am amazed that with all the people who appear to be doing this, not one person has clearly identified how to connect up the ibus interface - one of the reasons why I am writing and photographing so much of what I am up to... .
OK, made the other three connections to the iBus interface and did a trial run, connecting up the PC. Didn't go too well Sad
Tracked down the iBus interface on Com3 and then I started getting ibus messages, odometer, rpm, nav location. But the switch to the front screen didn't happen when I selected Tape and lost sound as well. Tested video output on a separate screen and that works OK, and sound works (through the car speakers) without the iBus connection. Track title did come up in the MID though Smile Hmmmm.....
Bah, just retraced my steps - sent my GREEN wire to pin 17 of the white connector instead of the BLUE connector Evil or Very Mad (Must pay attention in class!) Have to get my soldering iron out again! .
