2005 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Java Black
Pre Heater FBH

Car went in to an Landrover indie for the front drivers heated seat and rear cam fault.

Heated seat sorted but mechanic couldn`t find the fault on the rear cam, thinks it may be a replacement job.

Problem now is, I`ve come home and got up early next day, turned pre-heater on as I do most cold mornings, and it`s not working!

Thought it may be a coincidence and the battery had gone, but checked it and it`s ok.

I`ve tried setting the timer and it still doesn`t work.

Hi i have a simliar problem in that on my 05 MY06 if i set the timer fires up ok, if i try to switch it on manually the light flashes to say it is wroking but it does not fire. I also bought a T91 remote which is according to webasto site compatible but i can not get it to code to the car, tried fuse 59 which is on a few threads here, but no good.

Checked fuse 59 and it`s ok.

I`m calling garage in the morning, looks like it`ll be going back in. I`ve not got a clue what it could be.

Can it be turned off by the system diagnostic hardware the garage has?

It`s worked like clockwork for years and seems more than a coincidence that it`s not working the day after they`ve had the car.

The guy at the garage seems to know his way around RR`s but he seemed a bit lost on the new diagnostic kit he was using when I was there with him. MY10 3.6 TD V8 Autobiography

Might not be your issue but if it doesn't start after 2 or 3 attempts then it goes into "safety lockout" and it needs to be reset.

The Webasto units can be fully diagnosed by the LR dealer, or a Webasto dealer. You can also diagnose it yourself by (as well as fiddle with the settings and test all modes etc) using a Webasto Diagnostics lead:

The software is free on the Webasto Tech site and the lead (as per the second link) looks very simple to make.

With reference to the lcokout i found this on RAVE

Diagnostics: The ECU monitors the FBH system for faults. Any faults detected are stored in a volatile memory in the
ECU, which can be interrogated by Testbook/T4. A maximum of three faults and associated freeze frame data can
be stored at any one time. If a further fault is detected, the oldest fault is overwritten by the new fault.
The ECU also incorporates an error lockout mode of operation that inhibits system operation to prevent serious faults
from causing further damage to the system. In the error lockout mode, the ECU immediately stops the FBH fuel pump,
and stops the combustion air fan and circulation pump after a cool down time of approximately 2 minutes. Error lockout
occurs for start sequence failures and/or combustion flameouts, heat exchanger casing overheat and out of limit input
voltage. The error lockout mode can be cleared using Testbook, or by disconnecting the battery power supply for a
minimum of 10 seconds.
Start Failure/Flameout: If a start sequence fails to establish combustion, or a flameout occurs after combustion is
established, the ECU immediately initiates another start sequence. The start failure or flameout is also recorded by
an event timer in the ECU. The event timer is increased by one after each start failure or flameout, and decreased by
one if a subsequent start is successful. If the event timer increases to three (over any number of drive cycles), the
ECU enters the error lockout mode.
Heat Exchanger Casing Overheat: To protect the system from excessive temperatures, the ECU enters the error
lockout mode if the heat exchanger casing temperature exceeds 105 °C (221 °F).
Out of Limit Voltage: The ECU enters the error lockout mode if the battery or alternator power input is less than 10.5
± 0.3V for more than 20 seconds, or more than 15.5 ± 0.5V for more than 6 seconds.

Can you just buy the fob and receiver and code them up to work on your car?

I did a search but there seems to be mostly advice around issues, not my question.........thoughts anyone? all smug in my new plug!

CUE99T I see you have a V8 petrol model so although not impossible it is highly unlikely your car has a pre-heater fitted , it is primarily a function of diesel engined cars due to slow warm up because of the thermal efficiency of modern diesels.
Having said that there are a small number of petrols had them fitted , in which case a receiver would already be fitted and if it is missing a new remote only would need to be coded. 2008 MY Supercharged

On the BMW V8s I think the tell-tale is whether there is an "auxiliary heating" option appears on the main menu as well as an "auxiliary ventilation" option.

Took it back to the indie garage and he set the timer and it came on!

Used the fob this morning and nothing!

Before anyone says fob battery I also set the timer again and nothing!

If I disconnect the battery for 10 mins as advised above, will it effect anything else on the car? MY10 3.6 TD V8 Autobiography

Fact: all FFRR with diesel engine have FBH: it helps heating up the interiour faster when engine is running; the fbh is automaticly activated when outside t° drops below 5 ? °C
The main menu shows only aux. ventilation.
Some MY had an option: remote control and activation through the main menu of the FBH.
Later MY and models, like vogue SE or AB had this option fitted as standard.
Without adapting the software of the ECU, mounting a reciever and or buying a remote will NOT activate the FBH. this can only be changed by LR dealer, Testbook only isn't enough. RR 2012MY TDV8 AB ipanema sand
