Front Right Wheel 'Squeak'

Hi,

My FFRR has developed a loud 'squeak' when the steering is turned to the right - most prevalent when slow manoeuvring. Turning to the right slightly, it begins to squeal, then another half-rotation and it's gone... I've had a quick search but couldn't find anything - does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Nick

Wheel squeaks normally eminate from a stone stuck inbetween the caliper and disc, sometimes impossible to see it if it's small and wedged inside the caliper near the discs, only taking the pads out will ensure there is nothing there.

Anyone else got something more cleverer than that? Cool Discovery 4 HSE

Does it happen under braking in a straight line? Discovery 4 HSE

Could be one of many things - power steering rack or pump, belt on power pump or one of various balljoints on front wheel.

Don't forget pump and rack have to work a lot harder when manoeuvring at low speed and are then more prone to start complaining or belt to slip.

Power racks are notoriously weak on early L322s.

Had to replace mine on 2005 Td6 - power assistance kept dropping off when parking.

I recently got rid of a seriously annoying slow speed squeak when turning by putting loads of copper slip all over the back of the pads.. Silence.. Previously..

Try the ball joints on the lower front arms. I've pierced a hole in mine before now and sprayed silicone spray in them and they shut up immediately then put a small blob of sealant over the hole...

Mine was very very loud before hand...
