There is a gasket between the bumper and the bodywork where the bolts go through, it might be leaking there

Do you know where I can find the part numbers for the gaskets ? I had a look on Land Rover Parts catalogue but can't find them ? Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

No but it's just a piece of foam, easy enough to make one

Mine doesn't have a tow bar so it must be coming in somewhere else! The rear bumper attachment bolts sounds about right. The only place water is coming in from is the rear right had of the boot.

Hi DophinBoy,

I had the exact same issue as you and it actually ruined my EAS unit. To this day I have never fully bothered to investigate the issue however in seeing your pictures it reminds me of my exact thoughts that the leak was coming from the near left hand side as this was the only side showing water and dam up the top of the inner well.

Nice idea with the tissue. I too am at a wits end on how to block this, however as 47p2 said, foam might not be a bad idea. also I remember from B&Q they had this expanding foam which was excellent and turned rock solid after curing however I am not sure of its moisture deterioration attributes. something for me to investigate and ill get back to you.

if it works I would just foam the whole dam thing... knowing my luck though ill end up blocking the normal water exits lol

keep us updated with your progress. Thumbs Up

re spray foam, it repels water very well and when solid is easy to cut and shape..

Scarey if I was to spray the foam into the two holes in the below pic and also that area would it block any known passage ways

is there a section in the RAVE manaul that would show the construction behind the bumper area ?

it's the hole BELOW the lower bolt where the water comes in. block that. AFAIK the 2 big holes are not part of the problem.

Hi Guys, thanks for that, ill dry out and try block tonight as the RR has decided to give itself an added option of a paddling pool again.

I was working along the thinking of cover all holes possible leading to the boot Twisted Evil

Ill give that a try first and report back.

Cheers guys

I've still got the problem - been trying like mad to find the cause - I've ordered a new boot seal in the hope that's the problem but not so sure.

I am wondering about the rear sunroof drain tubes now - but not sure where they terminate. Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

anyone got any good idea of what sealant to use in blocking this gap ??? dont think the foam stuff is going to be so great if its always going to be wet on otherwise ???

I was thinking more a bathroom sealant ?? or anything else that will not crach either in time.

I think if you block that hole all that will happen is the water will collect behind the panel until the level is such that it overflows from the circular holes next to the bumper bolts.
You really need to get the bumper off to find the source of the leak.

I dont understand why it would collect behind there tbh. I am trying to understand how the water gets to that area in the first place. where does this water come from ????

or I guess what I am trying to ask is that, what water should be going behind there and coming out from the bottom ? instead of blocking up there and creating a paddling pool ?

well i had a bit of a break through. i done the tissue tissue in each corner and it looks like the right hand side corner (fuse compartment side) seems to leak from the hole in the corner. this was at standstill as well while it was raining last night.

i check the fuse compartment and looked in to the bottom and it seems to be bone dry, not a drop of water, hint of dampness and feels dry but cold.

so i think its leaking at in the tailgate area ? i checked if the bottom tailgate was locking on both sides and it seems to be tight.

is there any seals i could look at or anything else ?

Just checked mine again and I have the exactly the same issue - I am waiting on a new seal to arrive and will report back on whether that cures it or not........ Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....
