would it be possible for people to put what they paid for their tyres (by brand/type) on this thread (or on WIKI?) so those about to buy have a guideline what to aim for price-wise (or what type best fits our purse?)

I must admit i always run Pirelli scorpions and I have never had a problem in ice and snow, even over the past few bad winters. Even managed to get up a 1 in 6 incline on ice last winter with no real problems. I think technique has a lot to do with it... I certainly drive differently on snow and ice now I have had some training....

I said exactly the same thing until I fitted a set of Vred's, the difference is astonishing! virtually any 4x4 tyre can handle snow well, the difference comes when you try to go round corners or brake on ice. Believe me there is a difference - probably mostly due to the silica content in the compound and tread pattern designed for winter use on ice and snow.
