Advice for healthy batteries . . . .

With the festive season now upon us - ie "flat battery", "rogue messages" etc, perhaps this is a good time for FF owners to offer their advice for looking after their batteries ?

Having been a victim of said battery - on holiday in summer ( Rolling Eyes ), I was considering a portable solar panel charger for the cigarette lighter. I know they've been mentioned before - anybody with good, or bad experiences of these ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I cant see how the solar chargers can put enough power back into the system to keep the battery topped up, you'd need a decent sized one, like the size of the sunroof to do the job of trickle charging the system enough.

. . . . can't comment - but I remember another FF user mentioning using one after repeated flat batt probs ?

Anybody with personal experience ?

I've got one but can't say it works or doesn't as don't seem to have a batt issue. Was only cheap of the bay but might have enough umph to stop the trickle flow. Not sure if it's been tried but a battery cover/jacket could help. My old BMW had a battery sleeping bag and lasted far longer than expected. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
