I'm getting the key re-programmed this weekend, but the dealer tells me that whoever still has my other key will be able to unlock the car manually. However, the alarm will sound and it won't start.

If the electrics fail you would have to use a brick |

couldn't you just use a rear door handle for this? I mean just the plastic cap with no hole in it. |

The passenger side has no hole - therefore I would presume that the US part for the right hand side (their passenger) would have no hole in it? |

It's like in the Discovery 3, you pop the cap from below with the key and this clears the lock that's under it. |

You can get a cheap private reg for £100 or so. The previous owner won't know which FFRR to try then. |

Having been a service engineer in the past, I'm more than capable of replacing locks - I'm not paying £900 to a dealer to do it. However, I'm guessing there's more to it than simply swapping the ignition barrel and door key. If I get a lock kit, what needs to be done in order to programme the keys etc? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |
