See post above that stated that the reason you cannot turn the jkey is that the linkage is corroded and although selector is in Park the car is still half in gear!

Just do it you may be VERY surprised at the results. (ITS REAL CURE ALL FIX Whistle )

just an update

spoke to my friend who is a lpg specialist and he is gonna do a full service on the lpg system ie flush clean ecu upgrade etc £130 nice 1 and I also told him about the car radio and dials not going off when I take the key out and before I could finish he said water in the ecu and he will sort that as well so looks like I’m on the way to getting a sound car again

1 other thing the plugs I put in when I serviced the car were platinum plugs which he said have to come out as your car cant use them when using lpg as unlike petrol they don’t lubricate the plugs and you will strip the plug and cause problems with the lpg system. Seems like he is on the ball

just like to say thanks to everyone for helping out on this as well

Thumbs Up Very Happy

Copper or better still iridium for LPG plugs (V expensive though)

they should run fine on normal plugs unless your engine gets hot often, ie towing work or you boot it a lot.

The more expensive plugs are worth it as LPG burns that much hotter that they should last longer.

I used iridium plugs from denso i think in my coupe and it pushed out a lot of heat tbh and never had issues with them Smile

bit of an update on the car my friend has taken the car today to his garage to check out what’s going on and to service the lpg

the problem was

turn the car off and take key out and radio and dash light stay on. when you put the key back in you cant turn the key. have to disconnect the battery and reconnect for it to reset itself

went on the diagnostics machine today and he said it looks like a control unit might be shot (£1000) for a new 1 Censored Censored Big Cry so lets see what he says when he has a proper look . i will call him at 5 to see what he has uncovered fingers cross it can be sorted without taking a hit for a grand

he said it looks like the controller has got wet Big Cry

Danny,
Before you go spunking a grand on a box of electronics unplug the amp and sat nav in the boot and try it all again. If water has gotten into the components in the boot they can be bought of the bay for a lot less than £1000. A few cans of contact cleaner might save you an expensive trip. Any idea what components your guy thinks are toast? Some need dealer coding but others and just be swapped and changed so a lot cheaper! [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

He thinks it could also be the 1 behind the battery as water did get in there as the run off pipe was off when I checked it so it could be either let's hope it can be sorted. Waiting on a phone call from him soon to find out my fate

Right just had a phone call the back of the car where the nav is etc is dry no water damage all the water was behind the dash. He has taken all the control units out and sprayed them up and is taken them home tonight to dry them out he also found 14 ecu faults from bulbs miss fire suspension they are all clear now so fingers crossed the controllers will dry out and all will be good when put back together. All this was because the windscreen drain had come off so would be a good idea for everyone to check there's they are both sides under the bonnet in the rear corners don't want anyone to go through this

At least the issues have been diagnosed and fingers crossed the parts dry out.
