Presumably my FSR?

Got in the car tonight, looking forward to a nice cool drive home after a day's meeting in an un-aircon office.

Started up, fuill aircon on, drove about 50m along the road and thought I detcted a slight "electrical" smell - but thought it was probably hot Shellgrip outside (they smell vaguely similoar to my scent receptors!). Anyway, at that point, the blower fan stopped dead. All lights on, aircon compressor enagges and diengages, but no fan flow at all at any speed.

So I assume it's the final stage resistor problem?? If so, I'll dive in and do it myself; if not it'll have to go back to the dealer, but to be quite honest I'd ratehr spend the £40 and a bit of time and know it's done properly, than have a bunch of monkeys who don't know a resistor from a Trabant pulling the car apart looking for non-existent faults. I hope!

Anyone validate my diagnosis please??

Well, I bought a new FSR today and fitted it - looks like someone had been in there before, not only was the "old" FSR the "new" style, but various screws missing also.

And the update is - still nothing works Big Cry So now I'm in the p00.

Any last-ditch suggestions before I attempt to find out whether the dealer's free 6 month warranty is worth anything?

And on that note, I will search here but are there any known independent specialists in the Kent area?

could be the blower fan stuck through leaves etc....loose connection around the final stage resistor area...fuse for resistor blown....or let the dealer figure it out. ... - .- -.

i think it'll be warranty - the dealer is 40+ miles away, and I suspect he'd only push it through the warranty company anyway so I may as well retain some control and have it done near home.

Disappointing when I've only had the car 2 weeks!

I use a very good independent in Canterbury (Dont know if we are allowed to name etc) who has full main delaer diagnostics.

He's a master tech from a franchised dealer who started on his own Thumbs Up 08 model TDV8 Vogue SE Rimini Red/ parchment. 04 TD6 Vogue Oslo Blue / parchment

Hi, thanks, I heard another recommendation for that place today (do they offer Solutions for Land Rovers just outside Canterbury? Wink ). I'm at West Malling so it's a bit of a trek from here so I'm going to use another specialist nearer home - they've been around for years and years although I don't have any specific recommendations for them - but they guy there seemed to know what he was taloking about when I called.

In the meantime I'm going to get my battery checked tomorrow as I've had a couple of other oddities today and I'm now wondering whether these are linked to battery voltage.
