Auction's

Just wondering what your opinions would be on FFRR's for sale at Auction Houses , would you buy a FFRR from them or do you think you would be better buying from a well known garage / dealer .

And for talking sake you had about £40k to spend would this get you a better specced / newer model than from a dealer.

Toying with the idea of going to one of these but having looked at some sites over the last two days not seen any with FFRR's up my way. Rolling Eyes

the biggest issue is warranty, you dont get it with auctions [afaik] and with the range rover ,things do go wrong. ... - .- -.

If you don't really care what spec, colour, mileage etc then auctions can be great to save £ 1000's
But be prepared for the hassle to find out any service history and repair things yourself.

Read their terms small print before bidding - some auctions do not allow any returns, some only give 24 to 48 hours to return vehicles if something big goes wrong.

All you can do is find one selling what you want, go there & view it the 5 mins before they sell it off & hope for the best.

Probably best to stick with ex-fleet / repossesions / ex-rental. I wouldn't touch a private sale or stolen recovered one going through auction.

Auctions are daunting experience even for Dealers and personally I avoid them like the plague. There simply is not enough time to properly inspect the cars as the doors are only opened when the drivers sets off for the sale hall.

Prices are sometime inflated by private buyers bidding against dealers and in general prices are not as low as you may think.

As stated above Main Dealer PX Auctions categories are a lot safer but as the dealer is not selling the car but simply sending it off to auction they are not that bothered what they take in so it is no guarantee of a good car I am afraid.

Most A1 cars do not get to auction for many reasons so if you decide to try and get a bargain be very careful and be prepared for substantial private buyer fees on top of hammer price!

My tuppence worth. Thumbs Up

I am not saying that good cars cannot be had just that its a risky business. Lots of people will not buy private let alone auction. If you're up for it give it a go...

I've got a TDV8 3.6, I didn't think it had a timing belt that needed replacing just a timing chain - does than need replacing?
What intervals? Geoff
