Well, I think the requests are completely reasonable... the dealer may be unwilling or unable (or both) to assist you, and of course may well want to charge you!

Also, you may find that the changes you want are impossible, as the car's ECU may not have the ability to modify that feature.

Have a chat to Forum member Wiggs... he may (a) be able to advise you and possibly (b) do the work for you:

If the car was new when you bought it, I would have thought the stealer would have discussed the various "personalisation" options with you and have them programmed for you upon delivery.

Not sure about changing the folding mirrors but if you want to loose the annoying seatbelt bongs you can do this yourself

I think personalisation options should be done by the dealer for. However I would say that what you are asking for might be something the dealer cannot help with for 'elf and safety' reasons, though I see no reason why they shouldn't sort out the change to the mirror settings for you.

I only found this was possible when I asked about having my doors lock at 5mph. The stealer wanted £85+VAT for the previlege as the car wasn't new! There are a whole host of options available, and should have been discussed with you pre-delivery. This could be a good negotiating point........... On a new car they should either give you a tick list before delivery or accept thy after a while you will come back with a very simple request.

During my last service I asked the stealer (beadles on Sidcup) to change 2 things for me. Speedlock (lock above 5 mph) and for the mirrors to fold when locking. They charged me 16 quid from memory but I was told the mirrors were not possible (worth noting I thought they might have thrown thus in given the price of the service :-).

True story, three of us in my car driving through Paris in a busy shopping street in my old 2004 ff when three guy's tried to open my (drivers) door! When i looked round i saw a handgun in one of the guy's hands! At that moment there was no traffic in front of me so we drove on and they ran off... All happened in a split second and yes i reported it etc etc... If it was not for drive away locking. They would have had my door open and the upper hand im sure...

Living in Lagos Nigeria, drive away locking is vital. In cars that don't have that, you will always be reminding the driver to lock the doors when driving off. Here it is not just the armed or unarmed "bandits" but also certain "traffic officers" try to get something extra for (perceived?) traffic violations. I still check whether the doors are locked driving out of the gate, just to be sure
