2016 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Loire Blue
Whinging git or reasonable customer

Having had the car for 3 months there are several things it will have to go back to the stealers for, additionaly I would like some of the automatic settings disabled. The car having briefly gone in after only a week and the dealer been a tad unhelpfull I am already bracing myself for a fight.
The sort of thing I am talking about is the audible warning for safety belts not fastened and the mirrors folding on locking.
I anticipate the dealer saying it can not be done, it certainly can but they may be unable to download the algorythems.
How unreasonable is it for me to make this sort of request considering the calibre and price of the car. letters not necessarily in the right order

Well, I think the requests are completely reasonable... the dealer may be unwilling or unable (or both) to assist you, and of course may well want to charge you!

Gotta be worth a try Thumbs Up Graham

Also, you may find that the changes you want are impossible, as the car's ECU may not have the ability to modify that feature.

I had some changes done to my D3 (using a Faultmate), quite surprising what you can change! Graham

If the car was new when you bought it, I would have thought the stealer would have discussed the various "personalisation" options with you and have them programmed for you upon delivery.

Even it wasn't new, a good stealer worth his salt should have mentioned it and done the progamming as part of the deal since it's not a long or expensive job (to them)! and the price could easily be absorbed by them. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Not sure about changing the folding mirrors but if you want to loose the annoying seatbelt bongs you can do this yourself Whistle

Turn on the ignition and with one hand keep the red button depressed on the drivers seat belt and with the other hand quickly insert and remove the seatbelt buckle 8 times, release the red button and turn off the ignition.

Turn on the ignition again, start the engine and move off, that should sort it Thumbs Up

Thanks Andy, is there a list of such actions some where.
Yes The car was new, no the steeler did not ask for any personal settings or even advise it was possible. letters not necessarily in the right order

I think personalisation options should be done by the dealer for. However I would say that what you are asking for might be something the dealer cannot help with for 'elf and safety' reasons, though I see no reason why they shouldn't sort out the change to the mirror settings for you.

I'd suggest you go in with a positive attitude expecting them to be helpful, rather than expecting confrontation or problems. What you want is not unreasonable, if they explain that they are not allowed to change the audible warnings on the seat belts, just accept it, and ask about the mirrors, and any other personalisation settings. I'm sure there should be a stander process they should take you through to set up the car the way you want it!

Good luck with it anyway! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

I only found this was possible when I asked about having my doors lock at 5mph. The stealer wanted £85+VAT for the previlege as the car wasn't new!

There are a whole host of options available, and should have been discussed with you pre-delivery. This could be a good negotiating point........... Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

On a new car they should either give you a tick list before delivery or accept thy after a while you will come back with a very simple request.

Or you could swap with me as my mirrors don't fold in when locked Very Happy

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue

During my last service I asked the stealer (beadles on Sidcup) to change 2 things for me. Speedlock (lock above 5 mph) and for the mirrors to fold when locking. They charged me 16 quid from memory but I was told the mirrors were not possible (worth noting I thought they might have thrown thus in given the price of the service :-).

My FFRR is a Vogue SE on a 56. Also worth noting that I'm now thinking about getting the speed lock turned off! The car locks as expected but when you stop and open the car using the door handle it doesn't unlike the car just the door in question. Because the door only unlocks on the first attempt you have to open each door twice to get out. Me and the missus are now getting used to hitting the lock/unlock button when we want to get out! Were both getting a bit fed up with it so I'll get it turned off and just lock the car when rolling through a 'dodgy' area.

True story, three of us in my car driving through Paris in a busy shopping street in my old 2004 ff when three guy's tried to open my (drivers) door! When i looked round i saw a handgun in one of the guy's hands! At that moment there was no traffic in front of me so we drove on and they ran off... All happened in a split second and yes i reported it etc etc... If it was not for drive away locking. They would have had my door open and the upper hand im sure...

Please thing long and hard before you turn it back off my friend... We were not in a "dodgy area", quite the opposite in fact...

Craig Thumbs Up

Living in Lagos Nigeria, drive away locking is vital. In cars that don't have that, you will always be reminding the driver to lock the doors when driving off. Here it is not just the armed or unarmed "bandits" but also certain "traffic officers" try to get something extra for (perceived?) traffic violations. I still check whether the doors are locked driving out of the gate, just to be sure Smile
Thanks to the Faultmate I can change the settings myself, but on a brand new car the dealer should do it and they should have informed you when you bought it what the options were and then change it for them. I would call the normal service from a dealer, especially on a car of this level. Even a second hand car from a dealer should get this service in my opinion. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
